1.
Accept this is one of the risks of trading internationally and complete the sale in good faith with a minimum of complication?
+1 on this, also this happened to me once, in that the guy paid the correct ammount in Euro's, but my bank stung me for £20 in charges to convert it, also the Pound to Euro rate differs at your bank when your converting (always in banks favour). As many have said £18 on £850 isn't that bad considering.
2. Pics of Glenn using a Squier Jazz in Norway 2006 http://www.glennhughes.com/tourpix_rocktheboat2006.html
3. I've got a mint condition Ibanez SR500 soundgear bass i'm thinking of selling on here. It cost me £420 new. It's not that I dont like it, it's just I always use my Squier jazz and I need a new cab so could do with the money. When I say mint I mean perfect, no dings, scratches, buckle rash, fret wear just beautifull, I will be willing to post it, so what do you guys think it would be worth please? Cheers, NJ
4. thanks Mark, easy when you know how. cheers, NJ
5. Probably a dumb question but, I've got a cheap Qwik Tune electronic tuner that I got free with a bass many moons ago, now although it's not the best peice of kit it does it's job, or so I thought, but, I was just having a look at Harmony Central today when I pressed the wrong button and got tuners. It seems my tuner isn't very well regarded and is said to be wildly inaccurate, usually too sharp. So is there any way of testing it's accuracy at home, I dont have access to a known accurate pitch? thanks in advance, NJ
6. thanks guys, some good songs there, some i'd forgotten, I thought of ...Man on the silver mountain, Burn & Addicted to love. Any more? didn't want overplayed (all right now, smoke on...., paranoid) stuff, it's too predictable, yeh?
7. I am getting together with 3 members of my very first band to do 3 surprise gigs (private parties) as a sort of support act for the main band. We haven’t played together for many, many years and two of the new members (rhythm guitar and drums) of this venture, although competent musicians, are young guys who haven’t gigged before. So my question is this, can you suggest about 12 songs that are fun and easyish to play, usually go down a storm and that most age ranges (16 - 60) will have heard of? We want to play melodic rock, so obviously no death metal but not too poppy (sp?) either. We are just at the talking/jamming stage at the moment, the two young guys are both nervous and excited. I realize this is a bit of a long winded question but any advice would be gratefully received. Cheers, Nick.
8. I think it strange how black/black/maple precisions are talked on here very highly, with opinions like 'one of my fave P colour combos' and 'black/black with maple boards is one of the best...' etc and yet, Roger Waters name gets mentioned as a signature bass and all of a sudden its not so appealing! Granted, Roger is not the greatest bass player in the world (not the best bass player in the band) but, as a thinker, music arranger and song writer, the guys a genious. IMO of course, I like the bass. Nick
9.
looks like a Nash to me
yeh, after googling Nash basses, i'm sure your right, I had a good view of the logo and it matches ones on the Nash info site. Must admit i'm embaresed to say, i've never heared of them until now! The red Nash of Glenn's looked and sounded superb. Doesn't he normally use a Fender Jazz or more recently BB2024x? Agree with bottlebassman about Scott McKeon, very good. Nick.
10.
The one pictured here? http://www.glennhughes.com/tourpix_gh_uktour_092410.html
After looking at pics on his website, seems he's using this bass all the time, still don't know what it is tho? think it may have a drop d tuner on it. Nick

12. I went to see Glenn at Manchester last thursday and what a brilliant gig it was! I was looking forward to hearing and seeing the Yam BB2024 that he uses but Glenn was instead using a beat up old red with maple board precision type bass, not sure what it was? don't think it was a Fender logo, maybe an old Tokai? The sound was awesome, really funky and powerfull with loads of overdrive. Anyone know what the bass was? cheers, Nick.
13.
did you ever find out if there are VMJ scratchplates about?
Hi, no I didn't exactly, although I took a chance and bought one on ebay and with a little bit of filing round the neck pocket & control plate it now fits perfectly. Secret was taking my time and being a bit of a perfectionist (nerd). My opinion was, if I bought one and it was nowhere near fitting I would sell it on, guess I got lucky....... although I bought a brand new allparts black pearle one for a CV jazz and it doesn't fit, so i'll have to sell that one!
14. I've got a set of Elixir 45-105 not that old and they rattle on E & A same as yours but not open, confused? yes!
15. ....just noticed, you've only joined tonite, so welcome to the forum, bigal.
16. I had until recently a Jap hardpuncher and IMHO it was as good as a good Fender precision, I sold it as I had too many basses and had to move on a bass. My local store had some cheaper (£250) Tokai jazzes about 9 months ago and their opinion was that some were good, some not so good, so the bad ones were sent back. I was talking to the shop owner a couple of weeks ago and he said he'd got in a consignment of £250 Tokai Strats and Tele's and he told me they were very, very good and a steel at the money. So I would think with a good trial, a good £250 hardpuncher shouldn't be hard to find. Nick.
17. I had one of those only fretted, mine was exactly the same except the pickups were a cream colour. I sold it to a mate to buy my Antigua burst USA jazz. Got £250 for the Westone, paid £295 (s/h) for the as new jazz, oh happy days! wish i'd hung on to them, the two of them now would be worth serious money, have a feeling my mate may still have the Westone, although I ain't seen him for 5 or 6 years.
18.
It is Shine On and yes they are based in the North East Cheers Dave
Dave, you are playing in my town on Nov 12th, will try to put the word about. Will try to put a flyer in the local newsagent because the more people turn up the more chance of rock gigs in our town. The last time I saw your band was about a year ago, was that before you joined? Love floyd tributes me, can't get enough. cheers Nick
19.
Dayum, I really like that green!
so do I.
20.
Im just putting one together as I have joined a Floyd tribute. Never really rated Waters until I was learning the sets. Not technically challenging but difficult arrangements with tasty variations and like you say great song writer.
.....whats the band called? unfortunately having never seen Floyd, 'tributes' are the only way now, i've seen, Australian PF, Pulse, Off the Wall, & Shine On 4 or 5 times each, aren't Shine On bassed in the north east? Waters is so much more than his bass ability, IMHO he does what is necessary with the bass.
21.
I like waters to,quite a dark man i feel.I always get the impression he has always been angry at the for being robbed of a father. Who could blame him,a superb song writer.
+1,000,000
22. Probably has been through a few, just seems odd to have the exact same colour combo, it's almost like his signature colour. Geddy Lee is almost always pictured with the black jazz but i've also seen him with plenty of other colours. I like Roger Waters, I think he's cool, I just wondered if he'd ever used a different make or colour combo?...... Nick.
23. Apart from a few very early photos of Roger playing a Ricky and a sunburst precision (Fender?) the only bass i've seen him play for the last 30+ years is his Fender black/black/maple precision. Is this the same bass? has anybody actually seen him play any other bass? if it is the same one, it looks to be in remarkably good condition. Any thoughts, cheers, Nick.
24.
If you used paypal to pay for the bass and have NOT yet left feedback, then paypal won't release the money to him until you do. Look to paypal to help you out. Even though they are owned/part of ebay.
Is ths true? I've sold stuff on ebay and if a buyer couldn't be bothered leaving feedback I still got the paypal money (I think).
25. 1980, local church hall, Roadhouse Blues by the Doors, although we did Quo's version from the Piledriver album. No name precision copy through a Vox 50w valve head and a (1 x 18? I think) cab.
