1.
As a matter of interest to me, Rotosound have *just* started making very heavy gauge bass strings.. well.. the 175's at least. I remember asking Rotosound to make such gauge strings sometime last year, if not before and after a meeting they were unable to do it, due to not having the machinery. Sounds like they have the capability now! I wouldn't mind comparing the Rotosound heavy gauges against the Warwicks.
We...(well ok..Jim) tried to garner interest in Roto to make ERB guages....18 months ago..nice to see they are bothering in the Low section...
2. Ever bumped into a member of Venom?
3. All tunings and notes are good.....its the music played with them that matters.
4.
metal is such an undefinable genre now, can be ultra fast or ultra slow (funeral doom anyone), can be guttural roars or operatic singing, electronic samples or a full blown orchestra. Metal now really just encompasses a range of styles of extreme expression no matter what that sounds like and for me at least that is the point. oh and check the pic of me and Alex Webster, dude is a god!
The end on the 'speed' is probably 'Drone' but I dunno if its metal...very odd,all the Sunn(o)))) stuff. Winter were amazing...nice pic btw

6.
I write out a chart including chords and dots for groove definition and specific breaks etc. If I have time, I use Sibelius. If not I use a beer mat with the picture torn off.
Beermat charts..yeah..been there...if only to have written "MIDDLE 8 is in C" in big biro!
7. Failed to mention DALI'S CAR.....Thats WAYYYY out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp-qt5gRqA4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWTLgBkw5fI...feature=related
8. John Fleming slaps everything....He's good at it,Im sh*te,I like Geezer Butler tones....and Im a meat head cave man when it comes to playing.
9. Anyone heard 'Dreams of reason produce monsters'? whats it like?
10. Go buy a 5 set, ditch the G (ebay) recut the nut, check the action out with a pro setup, and try it for 6 months..If it works, keep it,if not ,change back. ICON's lp was writtin in drop C..pretty much. Ive played a P in BEAD,it works, but you have to have decent strings..and through body stringing is a bit of a help if all you have is 34" scale.
11. Micks bloody amazing.. Oil on Canvas is great,Tin drum......all good stuff. 'Sons of Pioneers' is my fretless test tune
12. Can I also add a big thankyou to 'George' and his mates that helped lug & chug my gear in/out of the venue! Sorry for not saying goodbye to more of you,but the mrs was asking for a lift home from work (that was my Mobile that beeped in Jims talk...)
13.
That was one of mine Ross, or at least the Corina Warmoth with birdseye maple was. It's got an ACG02 in it. Peter
I swore off P's today...But I wanted to play that..... WHere do you live? I HAVE to try it!
14. AL's Novax'd 5 string felt Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
15. Knee bass It caught my eye first,I like designs that defy normality (No offence to those of a traditional viewpoint, but all P's and J's are just that...P's and J's) Weight was wonderful, didnt really understand the controls really (yes my fault, and small amp, room full of noise, but I like somethings a bit obvious....)..the action felt as if the neck had a serious forward bow,the neck was adequate, nothing special,I likes the finish upon the instrument, the nut felt high to and to be frank the sound I was presented with, didnt capture me,the P/u's felt weak, good for a slap tone, but no beef...given more time, and a better amp in front of me,that would have changed..it was solid. Saying that IT WAS DIFFERENT,and I like that.....There was nothing that could not be improved upon...but the shape was the draw to the eye. J style Bass The neck was of good 60s feel, and the body finish, though I played it in poor light, seemed of a very good quality,I enjoyed the minimalist controls (yeah..I like Black) and though different in setup,I enjoyed the sounds herein the instrument...The neck seemed adequate in joining with the body, and given I am not a J fan in tone I was happy....quite happy. BUT... Could I find anywhere I felt comfort to place my thumb to pluck fingerstyle,It was a Ricky 4001 with that bloody metal bit in the middle...without the metal bit all over again...the small scratchplate was nice, but I didnt feel comfort....it was close but no ciger for me..but given the price ITS A STEAL.... The P.....I didnt want to play any Fenders that day,Ive a Fender (a real one) why tread the same path?? Did not like the controls, did not like the sound of the P/U....did not like the clunky way the body played with the slabish look....6 bolt neck connection?....I could not see in the dark. body, though wood (I LIKE WOOD) was a little plain jane in the grain. BUT f*** me it felt nice to play, the neck was ultra fat..50's ish,and Im a sucker for gold on hardware,IT FOUGHT BACK and wanted a war,and the finish was adorable, and I liked the gold anodized classic scratchplate...its a P,a P copy, with an on/off switch for the active system (neat...very neat)...a better p/u (Dimarzio is what I like) and it would be a BIG hitter that I would have bought upon the spot...YES Im a P guy....I couldnt care where the parts came from,THAT NECK was worth the price of entry alone... Ive played a few bedroom builds in my time, and bought a few,its a good way to get good equipment, that works, lasts, and is reliable,at a cheap price. The above are, pretty much, all of that. Well done Prose, you should be proud.
16. I tried all 3,would you like my opinions? I will be honest, cutting, but kind.
