1. Final word.... The only restriction I had ,or ordered, was that everything, that was possible, had to be made in the UK,P/U being one of them..British makers..some people just didnt get back to us,We (well ok Jim..)tried to get Rotosound or Elites interested in making strings for us...and they just were not...we tried, its their loss,it could have actually made a change or even a good story or publicity but no..,its a shame,so we had to go with what was available,to us (Conklin,SITS,or Labella). The Bass is on show http://www.thehubcentre.info/exhibitions/e...08/guitars.html In Sleaford Lincolnshire,so its available to bee seen, along with alot of other British made instruments. Jim Fleeting makes amazing instruments, that are above question,If you dont,or in some childish cases, dont want to,believe me...go see him..What I have said is true.

 4.
I suppose its still alright to play it in D when the singer is singing in F or G.. Yer f*%k it, who cares.. When you are having fun. Garry
Well if your singer cant change key,or sing higher/lower,fire the swine... (I used to irritate an ex by playing it in D..She couldnt sing it)
 5. Thanks sister The Donkey Jacket and Penis-Hate was the hardest thing to get around, but Hey,bung on ABBA and Bronski beat, and the rest is easy!
 6. Play it in D,and you can add all sorts of lovely open harmonics....
 7.

I Think this has a deal under the Kramer Patent..or maybe the Steinberger Patent...as well, under similarity of the 'Duke' or Cricket bat....
 8.
OK, I'm interested to know why they didn't press ahead with legal action. Maybe they didn't register the body shape as a trademark outside the US perhaps. Still, a lot of it goes on.
I now have a box of Bassplayer mags to go through... IF I am right, the deals had to be done because Stuart Spector DIDNT own the company at the time...or the Spector name,he had,or was operating under the SSD name..(Stuart Spector Design)..which had no affiliation with Spector Products or their workings, designs, patents,Trademarks etc etc,he gave them up when he sold the Company in the 80s..who to I dont recall, but basically it became Fender..to G&L...in a smaller fashion (or not as the case was)..He created the shapes, models (with help from Ned Steinberger)..the lot..but had no rights or monies going for them to himself....he sold the idea,basically... He had to fight tooth and nail to regain the original company name and trademarks......and I think the company may have not had a worldwide patent on body shapes,OR Wilfer was using the shape, whilst Spector (The company) was being mothballed..or in a defunct status...like say..Moonstone..or Kramer before the comeback..... First deal after regaining the name was the recall on bodyshape liscense and patents...in this case,I think you can agree that Wilfer's company was using the NS shape (The classic Dave LaRue,Phil Soussan,Bob Rock..so session bass) as a body even up to the headstock....it was a case of admittance I feel, hense we have the copyright or similer thingy in the corner of Warwick ads when we see a Corvette model.
 9.
Indeed, so lets be clear that technically its not stolen at all because there are sufficient differences between the shapes. It's just that in your opinion the shape is stolen. I don't think you don't make that clarification often enough in what you post. Besides which lets not forget Fender clones, Behringer, Status clones, Pangborn borrowing the Jaydee shape which was borrowed from the Alembic Series 1/2, then Alembic used the Fender Dual Showman preamp design which was borrowed in turn by Trace Elliot and then Hartke, blah blah blah.
Well, not my opinon...but the Opinion of Spectors company and its associates, enough to warrent legal terms and thus the said deal,as reported in Bassplayer magazine, sometime in the 90s..If I recall correctly its was Spectors daughter that broke the news of the deal....the likeness was a little too close,as the issue was the 'Shape' of the Corvette model iirc. Correct me if Im wrong, but as you say identity theft of an idea is rife, double locking trems....P/U design. I dont think Spector or Warwick are looking at one post on a forum and are going to sue me or you for slander ...liable..whatever.
 10. Is it because...to the 'dislikers' here..the bass just does not look right?..It loses a symmetry without a headstock?
 11.
If you're referring to Hans Wilfer stealing the Spector shape, he actually licensed the body shape from Stuart Spector originally. If not, which shape were you referring to?
And ,If I recall, was threatend with legal action, because the license was not renewed. And had to again be re-renewed when Spector regained the rights to his company and patents.
 12.
who have ripped off Kramer?
Yeah,That ran through my head too? Has Hans AGAIN stolen an idea/design?

 15.
no, no he found me! I do though consider myself to be a lesbian if thats of any assistance??
I recently applied to become a 'Lesbian' too....entrance exam was abit different, lotta tongue work, and few thrusts, but I think I did ok and filled up the allotted 90mins...so I think I did ok...results come next wednesday...she didnt though, but as I am a bloke....I dont see that as any real problem.
 16. What have I written that's abusive? tBBC asked why? And I put my viewpoint on the table..simple as.....you dont deal with me,when you want a guitar built, whats your problem? And what on earth has the USA election got to do with..this thread??
 17. Oh NOOOO He's soloing..... That means we will have pages upon pages of shitheads slating him.
 18.
Why is Jim Fleeting the best (in your view) ARGH?
Nothing is ever a problem for Jim... His enthusiasm for building is infectious, anyone who's met him knows that, the guys a total mensch,he has no limits,as a builder in my eyes, theres no "This is what I do so tough sh*t.." or "My models look like this and I wont change that"...He has a few standard shapes that he likes if you are interested ,but there isnt a strict model....When I wanted to make the 9,I couldnt get anyone interested, and in a few cases I was ACTIVELY discouraged in the idea, even trying..by a few UK 'Name' makers. One luthier stated that I/we were/was a f***ing idiot/s for even wanting one (a 9 string)... Adding that, given the amount of sh*t and opposition we had to come across, and deal with..String makers.."We dont make them to those guages AT ALL (Check the website ,guess what it says different)..P/U manufacturers..parts..to be frank if it was not for a few really friendly guys in the USA,I dont think some things just wouldnt have happened...and if we had a hurdle,Jim crossed it...No-one willing to build a Pickup (£200+ quote for a single coil with no cover)..f*** it,We'll make one...the bridge...mad idea, never been tried on an ERB at that point as I know....I love Thompsons...Jim loves Thompsons...I wanted it,it was my idea..we went for it,its there..its in tune..and its great, people sneer, but I know its perfect, because I own it! The D-tuner....?? My joke,on how low CAN you go. He's quick,he does this fulltime,8 days a week, and its not just Guitars,he builds acoustics,Dulcimers, its got strings,Jim can fix it... His P/U's are amazing, matching woods,a split P for a 6 string??? I dont know anyone that makes one,at least in the UK... I recall an awful lot of derision and ignorance, when I first said he was the best, one person made a judgment on his skills basing their opinion on a poor quality photograph taken from Ebay.....One person babbled about "I would never buy a Bass from a Luthier that had'nt made a prototype"...f*** prototypes, build the real thing,If the instrument ISNT playable, and to the standards YOU asked for..Jim bins the lot and starts again.... Jim's fed up of commenting on his creations,because..basically,what he says or rather types here gets/is ignored, and most people are up there arses (my words not his) and know f***all about instrument making to really know what they are talking about, its less about making 'Build diary' pics and more about making an instrument I reckon. He's in San Francisco right now studying marquetry under the Luthier Symogi (if thats what his name is,the guys got a 18-20 year waiting list for his instruments, and made Clapton wait 10 for his)...I dont recall any Luthier ever wishing to further their knowledge to such an insane level (I reckon the Fingerboards next year are gonna be killer in a Ken Lawrencelike way) and is plainly..a nice bloke. This isnt smokeblowing, ala some makers on here..like some boys club, pros use him,its a small, operation, thats getting bigger..he's taken on staff..thats the way its going, has a fulltime workshop, and a good number of orders in..my next instrument being one (completed late November)....You dont believe me or wont..just go and meet him. If you want to see more of his work he's on Facebook Now Ive got to go,stir frys done...its squid in blackbean sauce.
 19.
I should think that thing fell out of the ugly tree and hit 145 pieces of wood on the way down.
and was cut into musical finery by the BEST Luthier in these small sheltered Isles....
 20.
What about MOJO then ??!
Thats the art of f***ing up and overpriced instrument, and selling it for more..its in the same section of the Dictionary beside 'Evilbay' 'Scammers' and 'Relicing' (which is the 'pre' of the above) Dents and scuffs....
 21.
Musicians talk a load of s**t really don't they
Yeah,often about woods and 'Tone'
