Scale is 34",Jims customwound the Humbucker (with single coil push/pull on the volume pot) 2 Bnd Kent Armstrong EQ (Stacked).... Oh and the P/U Cover...thats 30 pieces of wood....

The idea reeks of 'S-1' switches and fingerboard woods affecting tone.... A rush job is a rush job,a true craftsman wont rush...hell Mike Tobias wont set up an instrument after he's strung it for at least 24 hours,speedy string changes are impressive enough,but a sprint job and your bass is 'Magically' perfect sounds like Yankee bullshit corner cutting to me. And dont necks shift over time..season to season? Renders the whole thing pointless.

(Sigh)....a job over complicated by technology,setup and stoneing...been done for years....all thats really needed...like Buzz feiten (Or whatever its called)..The audience dosent notice the difference,I doubt most musos would notice the difference.

Lotta Headless instruments on the 'Build' threads lately...and the porn threads too. I know some people deplore them,but Ive a feeling that trends are going to come back around...any arguements?

+1 on Ash for me,its not Maple..or Basswood...Is it heavy?...looks typical 70s Ashwood to me

Its what you need vs what you like...and then cross that by what you are prepared to pay....I like a good ol P like the rest of us,I keep one for boring Bass owners to touch,but Old stuff isnt always built well,and usually dosent like an aggressive touch. But nobody in a correct,professional,versatile,state of mind takes a 4 string bass to gig,where they know that a 5/6/7 will offer AND deliver so much more

The 'Best' basses are made by Jim Fleeting in Ripon,thats not subjective opinion,its pure fact..the others are just amateurs trying.
