1. If you feel your life is better on 4 stay 4.....If you need 5 or 6....get and play a 5 or 6. Its a simple answer to a simple question.
2.
There's something in the water in Merthyr......mad...all mad!
YEAH..I heard that too...met a few and they like a laugh..as do Swansea lads.
3. Thanks....If you see a Tall long haired bloke wandering about in Lace up Leather Jeans or a Black Kilt and matching Sporran, say hello... Whats Merthyr like??? Summat in me wants to see the statue of the Matchstick man...but is their nowt else??
4. Probably Rickys own brand...a mate had a shop get hold of a few sets of Ricky strings, because he though they were really good, were not cheap as I recall either. Not seen a white wrap though.
5. On Hols, wandering about round about down there.....Anything worth popping about to see?
6. OH ....So THATS what that other knob does.....

How do I get this tone

Its a Sansamp.....Its not a cranked Ampeg, its a Sansamp....and its got a bit of compression on it too...newish strings and the gain set at 1 o'clock.
10.
ahh see i knew that there had to be a reason.
BLAKMETUL!!! \M/ DIE WEAK METAL KIL KIL KIL
11.
Old people who should've given it up years ago who think they know it all
Farts that think 4 is all you need,it isnt. Kids that cant play for sh*t and want to tell ME about what is GOOD tone.
12.
I have to say I'm not keen on "coffin cases": I mean what's that all about? Why rest your bass in a case that looks like a freakin coffin? Equally, what's with these gothic looking basses?
Because they are NEKKRO Look cool onstage under lights And cause generation gaps.
13. Kids that havent played enough and think they're opinion is justified.
14.
+1 but the C string... don't usually see the need, but some of the classical stuff I'm (making a meal out of) playing could really be made very easy with a C! Whats consensus on FatFinger sustain headstock clip-on thingumies?
See...You need a C string. Its easier to play with a low B and C,my left hand isnt half as shagged out when I play a 6,saying that, all that climbing and sliding, visually, looks REALLY impressive onstage with a 4,and Ive a load of 4 string sets to get through,so My P's getting a ton of work, until I retire it and get my new Headless 6. The Fatfinger works, but the cheaper alternative is just to go out and buy a small G clamp from any tool shop, does the same job,and is cheaper. My only bitch about Fender is the weight.
15. Due to astounding success and increased demand on his services,Jim has opened a new office and workshop in Ripon city center, dedicated to top quality Luthiery and repair, making THE finest Electric and Acoustic string instruments in the UK and Europe. 83a North Street RIPON North Yorkshire HG4 1DP U.K If it has strings,Jim can fix it.
16. Plastic corners on cabs.....its my only bitch about TECH21 stuff ANY pedal encased in plastic I dont enjoy G-K (though the 150 combo, usually used by Upright players, sounds great with an electric plugged in) Cheap active systems....Im not a fan of 2 bnd eq's People that dont see the need for high C strings.
17. I got paid,Im so great.....Pudsey friday...Stanley tonight..teaching on Tuesday, recording Monday and Tuesday.... Last show with guitarist,6 years with the band...Gonna take a break for a fortnight, then plow on with the new one....get through Xmas and autumn, and see what digs up then. Need to service the car,Jims started building my headless, and I CANT wait to f*** off on holiday.
18. Wanna cure GAS? Get yourself a personal Luthier.
19.
yes, but we are genuine artists (ducks to avoid large brick lobbed his way)
then you deserve everything you get,and all the bad karma it entails. Seriously, workers could teach a thing or 2 to some bands.
20. Dr Daves rotten topped Shuker,or a decent walnut Wal.
21. GOD...You guys should just be grateful you play an original gig. moan moan moan. Ive rarely encountered this sort of sh*t at a covers event...and thats often 5-10 bands on a bill a day.
22. Every 6 gigs, regardless of state,I break strings like no-ones business. Its metal.....PUNISH YOUR FEEBLE INSTRUMENT!
23. GruB dich Jens...Wilkommen zu Basschat UK. Ich spiele 4,5,6 und 9 saiter Basse, und Contrabasse (von Dusseldorf). Ich singen also..... Meine Tante und Cousen kompt aus Osterholtz im Scharmbeck und Bremen...und meine Fussball team im Deutschland ist FC Sankt Pauli. Ich Spiele vor 17 jahre. (Hope that made sense) You ever play an ESH?
24. Tasteful,effect laden,clear,well played.
25. Thing is in Metal, you are literally CHAINED to the 'holy' riff, you wander from it too far and the 'Heavy' just goes, and its a damn hard thing to just wander off,in metal, and STILL have the 'Heavy'. If you are in a 1 guitar band it makes it more than doubley hard, because guitarists love easy structure to play along with,f*** with it too much and they tend to shrink and get stroppy..... Sarah, best advice I can give you,is listen to the 1st 4 Sabbath lps.....then get the 'Dio' era stuff including Dehumanizer. Try to learn the 1st 3 note for note,Rip them to pieces, then dive into Vol 4 etc etc,Geezers tone is also a lesson to everyone, watch live vids of him,see his hand positioning, where he plays, anything that gives you more 'umph' is in the Geezer technique. Listen to Harris,Angelripper,Burton, and for a real lesson Athiest's Patterson (Who piss's on Burton from a great height). But it all comes from the Butler.
