2. Im a TOTAL Tech21 head,Landmark 300w head, matching cabs..... Its NEVER let me down, dragged through all manner of gigs, and has not been an ounce of probs.Ive used the Sansamp for longer,it isnt an LA clean amp ala SWR,but its made for dirt merchants such as me. If you like an Ampeg type of sound without the weight, and hassle of an all tube head, its the way to go. P-Bass and this set up,really shifts air.
3. Hobgoblin can get them,I could get you one made...
4. I just wish there was more cash,I see the crowds,I see the draw, and some tightwads wont dip their hands in and pay another 20 quid.
5.
Wow... everyone round here is really down about stuff these days.
Its the fuel, credit crunch thing, people are being stiffed at gigs, and theres not a lot of hope/money about. I only do the covers for money, not really love anymore, but as a single, live alone,Morgage,Garden,Garage,Car...y'know...the most taxed person on the bracket, the chance to earn ANYTHING that stops the red letter through the door is most welcome, and often has been a lifesaver, without coverswork,I would not have been able to feed, fuel, clothe, myself or keep a roof over mine and my loved ones heads (and buy some decent gear). but it sucks, esp when Managers that promise you £250,and the place is packed,'dissappear upstairs' and leave £180 on the side for the staff to pay you.... ANY COVERS PLAYER IN YORKSHIRE KNOWS THE VENUE IM TALKING ABOUT!
6.
does your covers band not fancy doing some original stuff too?
I doubt they are even capable.....or would want to. The guitarist is 58,singers 54,Keys is late 40s,the drummer...I tried suggesting he come and jam with me,he didnt want to do that because there was no money to be made.....Im the youngest at 30. With my bitchmoaning hat on again,Its endemic around here.
7. Last night at 11:06pm,I turned to my keys player and mouthed the words "Im bored",Dave smiled..."Yeah...me too" was his silent reply.
8.
Did you sort this?
Think she did. You never answered the question of the Airline adaptor being sold,so how many flog one??
9. Its not whats being played, its weather its got punters in the door, buying pints. If your gonna slag off covers fair enough, but Ive seen sh*te onstage playing whatever, covers, originals,it didnt matter,it was sterile crap, and just because you play originals only, does not give you a godgiven right to an automatic audience or cash,if you are good you get rebooked,if you aint, you wont, its as simple as. I bemoan that all I do is covers, yet one look at partysounds in my area and theres FAR more places for coverswork rather than originals bands,in fact Ive threaded about my dissapointment about 'Original' musicians, being total flakes or blowouts, with crappy gear,no idea that what sounds good in a bedroom dosent always translate to the stage......its a totally different environment. Regardless of this,I would rather see a good originals band, but Ive yet to see anything in the last 3 years that isnt a copycat or clone or soundalike of summat Ive seen or heard already thats signed.....and then theres stage persona,Im not looking for Sinatra, but I wouldnt mind watching a band that dosent copy DOWN TO THE HAIRCUT,their heros. Good bands, get paid, and get paid what they ask. My lot wont play for £180 anymore, its £200-250+ now for a pub,Functions can command whatever,Weddings more so.
10. Get a job,work harder,get both. Learn Patience.
11. 7th fret A string,9th fret E string,7th fret E string,4th fret B string (though that may be a 3rd fret..but I think its 4th so...),5th fret B string... You are also playing it in the wrong position...but given as they are tuned differently it dosent matter, but my ways Phatter.
12.
Oooh no not that bit. ok... so you've got the chorus.... 55555555 (I'm noooooooooooooooot) 2222222222 (Sad at all) *little run here*
Oh THAT fill....its nowhere near 3:21....hang on
13. no im wrong its A string...2nd,2nd,3rd....open E. (Minor 7th to major 7th...If the root is C sharp...its early...)
14. ok..its chromatic...B,C,C sharp... 2nd fret A string to 3rd..then 4th..then back into the riff,snd fret low B...but its a f***load easier if you were on a 4 playing to they're tuning.
15. Right sarah...I think this lot are tuned C sharp..you are in regular tuning,is it the really small climb after the 'drop-out' (as in no bass..just drums and vox)..then everything comes back in....
16.
Tab only for all my sins.... and thanks
Mutters)...Fookin blind metalhead..... Hang on.....its coming up
17. Gimme 5 mins...do you read..or are you a tab only person?
18. WE got paid, nice place, bit odd,but was told alot of people are on holiday, hense smallish number....Met someone who could teach me German. 2 drunk birds were annoying, but harmless,I need sleep....
19.
Incident? Gig didn't go to well then?
Some berk, chinese whispers, and general bullshit,I wont say what exactly happend, but it was an annoyance un-needed. Can I just say,I am the bands lead Bassist. I was only using the 4 last night, and was frustrated that it was so limiting..tiring too, climbing the neck up/down/up/down,tonight I may go 6...or fretless, whatever the mood may take me. Thing is,the Fender sounds great....And I have 6 packs of strings to get through.
20. Bitter, weird, nice, but not as nice. Hope tomorrows goes ok.
21.
Sounding positive today ARGH
I was,but an incident at tonights gigs really ,sort of ,flattened me out. For the record,Sometimes, its a real bitch having a screwed up head, its late, and Im not thinking straight. I want to switch off and relax, but I cant,i just have to wait. You have to wait for the low to 'bottom out' as it were/was..and then you climb again.
22. 'Apollo' soundtrack by Eno and Bladerunner...if only for Demis Russos's vocal.
23.
ARGH, mate I'm sorry for going so off-piste but I couldn't let that pass.
Yeah I saw the little anti covers post first thing this morning, and sat back...and thought about it,and then....thought a little more. And went to work, knowing about 10 persons would do everything that I wanted to say. With my spin on covers,to which Im doing the Harley Davidson Rally in Malton in about 3 hrs,is this... Due to covers,I have:- Better stamina,I can stand onstage do 3hrs,and pack up,and sod off home....Most Kids or originals bands are blown out by the 1 hr mark Better equipment,I just have,no arguement,we want the best, and we know its the best, because it works...and HAS to work everytime we plug it in,as nice as that ratty old combo gets you by in the rehearsal/bedroom,its gonna probably crap out ASAP as soon as it touches a stage.I had a massive barny with a few 'mates' over this, and those slaggings and general sniggers dissappear very quickly when a DI or decent bass needs to be borrowed for a gig/recording etc...and when they see the quality and reliability of gear. I dont rub it in,my stuff pretty unflashy, but I know It works. Bills paid, nuff said,I need to eat, feed, clothe, and in some cases buy Bass stuff, though elecy/Gas/water etc, come a'knocking and It feels good that you can just pay them, without having to pull out the plastic. My house, yes, true, they did. The ability to read,Chord charts, songs on the fly...yep,its that surprise element,I can also get out of trouble onstage, better than most. My ears are more alert to foul ups as well.I aint perfect, but Im good. Money in my pocket. IT FEELS NICE!
