Precision neck with a Jazz decal?

Thinking of getting a nice tortoiseshell pickguard for my Super J so that my Dingwalls match. Anyone have any recommendations for a good custom maker?

Looks aside, and price aside, I have found Foderas to be somewhat inconsistent - I've played several that I thought were awful instruments at any price level (dead sounding, terrible feeling necks). I have also tried a couple which were incredible. I've found others like Sadowsky, Marleaux or Dingwall to be consistently good basses even if they weren't what I wanted. But hey, everyone's different.

Nice work! Did you completely strip the neck before applying nitro?

Just to clarify - I didn't buy it, it wasn't up for sale. I went to see it out of curiosity, but ended up really liking it. I went again today and had the chance to chat with Sheldon for a full half hour. I brought up the headstock and he was very aware that it polarised opinion, but also said that many of Dingwall's design decisions have done in the past, and people tend to get used to things over time... I'm kind of inclined to agree, (although I still think the MM Bongo is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen). The headstock does look very beautiful in person, and because of its shorter length (and the rear strap), the bass balances quite beautifully on a strap. I for one really like it, I think it has that signature Dingwall vibe with a nod to the original.

Saw (and heard) Paul Turner play his all white five-string tonight during the post-London Bass Guitar Show jam, through a Jules Monique. He always sounds good, and tonight his tone sounded phenomenal.

Thanks for sharing the photo. Still looks pretty nice to me, reminds me of some of the really old double basses. Does it have decent acoustic volume and resonance?
