1.
Why is this still here? Am I missing something?
Was wondering the same, this is a bargain for someone. What pickups does it have?
2. Link not working. What is the scale?
3. Top tip for anyone getting one of these: put a J-Retro Deluxe in and you have a MONSTER.
4. Also appears to be a 2013 which is after Fender started getting their act together. Setup, pickup fix (possible replacement if you want better ones), tort pickguard and you'll have an absolutely fantastic bass there.
5. Total no brainer for £600.
6. How do you find it compares to the Mono? I have a stable of M80s and Vertigos...
7. I have a J-Retro in my Dingwall Super J, and had a J-Retro Deluxe in my old Modern Player Jazz. Superb preamps. Very different to the Sadowsky pre in character. I do wish I had the Deluxe in the Super J as the passive tone control is very handy, but that would require a jack socket to be cut so I've avoided it so far.
8. I think this belongs in "Wanted"
9. Damn it, got excited all over again. Sold to the title would be good
10. The Bass Gallery is obviously very good. Closer to you is Feline Guitars in Croydon, they have done all my guitar work for years, including three stainless steel refrets. Recommend them highly.
11. PM sent with intent.
12. The East preamps get you pretty close to the MM sound IMO
13.
Bc is the devils bass haunt!! Temptations abound!
This is the absolute truth. Three of the four basses were from here (two were partial trades so it doesn't feel so bad).
14. 34" according to the build web page.
15. That was me, I'm a plonker and in my research completely neglected to check the alloy of the windings. What I also didn't find was a price to beat this, so grab a bargain from a very understanding seller!
16.
Fender definitely seem to base themselves on their vintage reputation. Pretty much their entire top-line range - the Custom Shop - is guitars that have been artificially "relicked" by chipping away the paint job to make it look old and tatty. I don't understand it personally. Vintage Fender tone, yes please but give me a nice new paint job and I'll try my best to avoid chipping it lol
They base it on their vintage reputation for good reason. They're simple, uncomplicated instruments that have a place in history. The mojo of a good vintage bass is undeniable to those who like that sort of thing... says the guy who owns two Dingwalls and a Sadowsky
17. The problem is that so many other companies are doing very good modern P and Js. People generally seem to want classic Fenders, myself included.
18. Part of me wishes I was one of those people who are content to have just one or maybe two basses that they keep forever and use for everything.
19. So, about three months ago I decided I needed to clear out most of my gear as I had too much that I wasn't using. In that time, three basses and four guitars have left my hands. Seven axes, not bad. Four new ones though... two already here and two on the way. Pretty par for the course? Is this how attempts to downsize end, with more GAS?
20. Top seller here folks. Deal with confidence.
21. Wingbass?
22. Oh my God.
