1. Quite a few six strings on Gumtree at the moment, including an Ibanez BTB for £250...
2. Even my relative cheapie Yamaha Attitude Special growls with rounds on. I've got flats on it now and it has serious welly.
3.
There's me thinking that they were going to examine the dud string in a lab or something - turns out they just wanted to check you weren't telling porkies.
I don't see anything wrong with that anyway.
4. I don't think it's to check on me - probably more so they can see what the issue is and where the defect may be so they can look at their processes.
5. Optima have been in touch and are collecting the old string (for checking) in exchange for a brand new one. Fair play, that's good customer service.
6. Relief is fine, there is no fret buzz. Have tried raising and lowering the action on the B string. The B string seated properly in the nut, and I've ensured proper break angle both at the nut and the saddle.
7. Just put a set of Optima 24Ks on my 90s Mk I Yamaha TRB6: does that low B sound dead to anyone else? It's so muffled and lacking in sustain compared to the others in the set. https://instagram.com/p/BBBJ13HEeHS/
8.
This one? http://www.sadowsky.com/media/support/library/technical/bp0996_bass_setup.pdf They mention using a 6" rule graduated in 64ths... Don't think I've ever seen imperial feeler gauges in anything other than thousandths though
Quite right you are, I stand corrected. I got the numbers from Roger when I visited his shop and I must have gotten the feeler gauges comment from elsewhere. I'll get a cheap set of feeler gauges anyway. Thanks for the help, guys.
9. Does anyone know where to get feeler gauges that have measurements in fractions of an inch? Most of them seem to be in decimal (either in inches or mm), but most setup guides have measurements in fractions (like the Sadowsky guide, which I'd like to use as Roger did the best setup I have EVER had). I know you can convert it, but I'd rather have ones that just have the fractions on them if they are available. Anyone?
10. Absurdly good value. Lovely finish!
11. Having a good think about this. What sort of state is the finish in?
12. Ah right, similar to my TRB. Was looking for something a little narrower as I find mine exhausting to play. GLWS
13.
I made a perspex one for my Sadowsky UV70. Works a treat and can be removed without leaving a mark. Next job is to make one for the PJ.
Gotta love matching pairs (:
14. If these aren't already gone... we could definitely use these at the school I teach at.
15. Matching ramp on my old Dingwall. My new one has an acrylic ramp.
16.
My dream jazz bass
Get it. It's almost too good to be true at this price.
17. One of those with six strings, fanned frets and 16.5mm spacing please!!
18. I like the feel of a ramp. I wouldn't have one (certainly not a full-height one) between neck pickup and heel because I like having access to pop strings.
19.
Think this is my fav of the ones posted. Something a little Fodera-ish about it (not that that's why I like it), it's just appealing to me for some reason.
The horns remind me of a Monarch too
20. His website seems to be down. How much do they cost?
21. What Cato said. Matchsticks and a bit of wood glue. Let dry, then screw into that.
