  1. He did the refins for my 60 and 64. They’re stunning.
  2. If I didn’t already know that I’m not really a Jazz person, I’d be all over that like checking on nitro lacquer. John’s builds are just about the closest thing you can get to an actual pre-CBS Fender with consistent build quality.
  3. Ah well, since we’re dreaming: six string, 33-30” multiscale 16mm spacing at bridge, 8mm spacing at nut Stu-Hamm-Urge style J/P/J pickup setup... or Roscoe Beck Sadowsky pre with VTC RMC piezo saddles Chambered Singlecut roasted ash body, roasted maple bolt on neck ebony board, no front inlays, side LEDs bridge stringable through body at an angle (a la my Yamaha BB435) to allow easy use of long scale strings Ultralite tuners total weight of 4 pounds 😉
  4. Aren’t you going to post this here?
  5. And also no offence - Basschat classifieds is littered with the blood of people who have played for 20+ years, finally commissioned their dream bass, and discovered their tastes changed and the resale value of an unusually-specced custom bass is a fraction of the commission price 🙃 Perfect for someone like me who enjoys scooping up secondhand deals on high end gear.
  6. I’ve tried a few Limelights and have three vintage Fenders that were worked on by John. I have to say the Bravewoods are in a completely different league... they are more expensive of course, but a bargain for what you get IMHO.
  7. Bike shops can’t get rid of boxes and packing materials quickly enough at the minute.
  8. That just redirects to the Warmoth front page for me. No worries, I know the one you mean. I still like the Dinky J though.
  9. The Warmoth Dinky J is very similar to the Sadowsky body size.
  10. There really aren’t that many 32” five strings to choose from at this budget level.
  11. Also don’t forget that Ibanez made a high end SRFF with Nordstrands.
  12. The ToneFusion pot is useful though, and any decent tech would be able to replicate it for you. I only took mine out to replace it with Sadowsky preamps.
  13. Good luck - that looks like too good a bass to lose!
  14. I really wanted one of these when I first started and then got a TRB6 instead. No regrets, but I would still like one! I did own an RBX JM6 briefly which I absolutely loved apart from the 35” scale.
  15. I too traded my Combustion in for a Super J and then added a Super P. Completely new level.
  16. Always wanted one of these. Wish the timing was better!
  17. It would probably be in your best interests to upload them in a file format which is viewable! Something like JPG.
  18. Personally, I would only go custom if I couldn’t get it through an production instrument. I find that my tastes change as a player, sometimes even within the time period that a custom bass would take to arrive. Depreciation is generally HORRENDOUS with customs, especially if you’ve gone for something unorthodox (which is possible if it’s something you haven’t found in a production instrument). I like biding my time and waiting for secondhand customs etc which match what I want. It’s a fun game, and if you change your mind and decide to move it on, it generally hasn’t cost you anything to try it out.
