  1. The ToneFusion pot is useful though, and any decent tech would be able to replicate it for you. I only took mine out to replace it with Sadowsky preamps.
  2. Good luck - that looks like too good a bass to lose!
  3. I really wanted one of these when I first started and then got a TRB6 instead. No regrets, but I would still like one! I did own an RBX JM6 briefly which I absolutely loved apart from the 35” scale.
  4. I too traded my Combustion in for a Super J and then added a Super P. Completely new level.
  5. Always wanted one of these. Wish the timing was better!
  6. Damn it - blink and miss it!
  7. It would probably be in your best interests to upload them in a file format which is viewable! Something like JPG.
  8. Personally, I would only go custom if I couldn’t get it through an production instrument. I find that my tastes change as a player, sometimes even within the time period that a custom bass would take to arrive. Depreciation is generally HORRENDOUS with customs, especially if you’ve gone for something unorthodox (which is possible if it’s something you haven’t found in a production instrument). I like biding my time and waiting for secondhand customs etc which match what I want. It’s a fun game, and if you change your mind and decide to move it on, it generally hasn’t cost you anything to try it out.
  9. I’d have been very proud to have made that!
  10. String with sandpaper around it works, or a drill bit if you prefer.
  11. Don’t do it. If you hate soldering, contact @KiOgon for a solderless harness.
  12. Absolutely - on the one hand you have true gents like Sheldon Dingwall and Roger Sadowsky who are both brilliant luthiers and friendly people, and then on the other hand you have eccentric geniuses who are obsessive about their craft but perhaps less communicative. I have instruments from both camps, and in some cases have tolerated less-than-awesome communication because the product was so good. But I’m at the stage where it’s got to be easy and at least good, or so good as to be worth the hassle.
  13. I agree - but in a world with this many choices for customers, I know my loyalties lie with the builders who have been polite and helpful to everyone. A builder has more to lose from such an interaction than a customer does. For sure, English is my first language and I’m certain I don’t come across as well in my second languages, particularly over email / text / online when even many first-language speakers find nuance more difficult to convey.
  14. It’s not exactly the kindest customer service email reply I’ve seen...
  15. THIS. I can’t stand it.
  16. That was quick...
  17. I wasn’t talking to you or anyone in particular, more referring to how it’s generally Squiers which have stickers on. My point is that people can do what they want with their basses... it’s just not my thing.
  18. They’re really not my thing, but it’s your bass, do what you want to your Squier. Just not on nitro where it’s difficult to remove without ruining the finish. Then again, Lee Sklar butchered and carved his vintage basses, so 🤷🏻‍♂️
  19. Thanks for the advice everyone - I’ll spend the money. Are there varying shaft sizes for the various bits, or is there a blanket standard in aftermarket accessories?
  20. I’m just down the road from you in Shooter’s Hill!
  21. Thanks for the input. I think on balance it is a good idea to reserve this for polishing and cutting etc. I don’t mind spending a little more for something that will last, and buying a dedicated router for routing tasks. Are there different shaft size standards? In terms of aftermarket bits, etc?
