The balance is excellent. I’ve only tried on a D-Bird, but it had one strap button on the heel, and another on the back a few inches in from where it would normally be on the end of the body, so not only is balance very good but it sits further to the right than you’d imagine, making the reading to the 1st fret comfy.

It’s already got a bid on, 8 hours in!

First ever bass, wondering about upgrades!
therealting replied to ffffoureyes's topic in Bass Guitars
That’s a hell of a first bass, with those upgrades and for that money. Winner. -

If you are not fussed about weight, and don’t have any real qualms about custom finishes or fancy woods, the Metros are every bit as good, and can almost afford two for the price of some NYCs.
-
Up until the Warwick deal recently, Metros were made in Japan. The Metroline is effectively made by the Japanese custom shop, just with limited options and non/chambered bodies. The MetroExpress is production line, but also Japan. The NYCs are chambered and have more custom options. In terms of quality, they’re basically identical as Roger says. The logo thing I think changed over time. The same way they went from Sadowsky Guitars to Sadowsky Metroline.

I was thinking the same thing about the roasted maple! Nordstrands are available in different sizes though... unless the Bart size has been made intentionally proprietary.

Haha, please don’t feel obliged to do so just on my account! I’ll post a review if I go ahead with it. Just received an expensive bass yesterday so we’ll see.

You’re getting into used Mexican or even Japanese Fender territory at £400. There’s also no shortage of good older Japanese J-types at £400.

I’ve actually been thinking of getting one to try out 32” five string...

Hofner Violin would probably be a good reference

Well, if it helps, I really like the fact that with this unit, you don’t need to power the receiver from the mains or a board either. Charge both transmitter and receiver using a double-headed USB cable, then plug directly into output jack and input jack and switch on.

These 5.8GHz units were on sale for £42-ish last week so I ordered a set. A friend of mine lives in dense apartment housing in New York and says the 2.4GHz units are unusable there. Only home use so far, but seem to work well with no interference and it’s nice to not have to worry about wires when playing in the house. ammoon 5.8G Wireless Guitar... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MCHF99P?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The descriptions literally say nothing about the actual instruments... but then I guess if you have to ask what kind of pickups it has...

@ead You have another knob to play with (like you needed another)?

... and also it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re getting more online orders than usual since people can’t go to their store
