  1. Fair play! The additional bracing may still restrict things, but I imagine the problem will be less pronounced. Has he tried a short scale? I tried one of the GS Mini Taylors recently and it was VERY inspiring for chordal type things, even though it was only 4 strings.
  2. I’d hold out for a secondhand Alien personally. Most acoustic basses are simply not very loud, and the problem is exacerbated when you add a B string.
  3. They’re great - a student of mine had one a few years ago and I was very impressed. They also make a medium scale with the same name (?!) so just wanted to check as I would have been all over that.
  4. This is the 34” scale version isn’t it?
  5. That’s Rafael Nadal, not Roger Federer!
  6. If I were, why would I still be here? 😬 If I had a second one to string up with rounds, I could probably legitimately call it a day.
  7. The Combustion I had had EMGs in it, and IMO they are the weak spot in that bass (they were also in the Shuker Singlecut I got last year, a swap to Nordstrands sorted that out). I had mulled pickup or preamp swaps before the opportunity to trade for a Super J came up.
  8. The Super P is, to me, as close to the perfect bass as I’ve found. I’ve had a Sadowsky pre put into it and it is a super versatile tone monster now... and it almost plays itself.
  9. Also true, but the Combustion I had previously also got a fairly conventional modern (not djenty) bass tone.
  10. Agreed, completely different to the actual sounds I’ve gotten from mine.
  11. Except they’re more like £3k
  12. I’ve not had the chance to try one yet, but almost all the reviews have been somewhat disappointing. And it’s VERY expensive.
  13. @bnt Sounds nice and growly. Hoping this is everything the Strandberg turned out not to be.
  14. My first reaction is that I would struggle to intonate anything on a multi scale fretless... but having said that, I seem to move fairly easily between my acoustic and electric double basses, regular long scale fretless bass and my fretless bass uke, and also I found the transition to fanned fret pretty quick, so maybe it’s not as far fetched as one might first think. Quite fancy a go now actually.
  15. Really hope the necks aren’t super skinny - has to sell my multi scale Ibanez because it gave my fretting hand cramps. Would quite like that headless six.
  16. Freeway?
  17. Lovely, my favourite colour and period for these. Are these basically the new AVRI? Nitro finish?
  18. Proper protocol is to list in the classifieds and then link to it from here.
  19. I prefer the evenness of tone that I get with fanned frets for this reason.
  20. Good call. I like that pickup enough that it’s in my 64 Precision.
  21. Photo?
