  1. I think it’s worth having both a P and a J, personally. That said, if you’re a J man, then you could always trade and then save up for a P when you can afford one.
  2. Thanks for the info and kind offer @Burns-bass! Still loving the Eminence and on balance I think it probably fulfils all my needs for an electric upright. I’ve recently got a ToneDexter which I am curious to try with it to see whether I can get a woodier tone from the pickup.
  3. Interesting, how would you compare with the Eminence?
  4. Sorry for the radio silence, @roceci and all. I’ve finally managed to put together a little demo of the bass. Please ignore the buzzing at the beginning - I think there is a ground connection issue with my Ditto looper pedal - and also my sloppy playing, but it’s not the bass! https://www.dropbox.com/s/0nensch7v4i4fjh/KSD6 Looper Demo.mov?dl=0
  5. I can also vouch for the K&K Pure Mini, but have switched over to JJB pickups over the last few years as they are just as good and a fraction of the price.
  6. Very interesting! How much was the neck pickup? I have thought about having something similar on my Warwick Alien.
  7. It happens a fair bit to me. It’s usually either sound engineers who say they didn’t have to do anything to my signal, or bass players in the audience. I get this the most with my Dingwall Super P5 with Sadowsky pre, into my Noble preamp DI. It is by far the best sounding rig I’ve ever had.
  8. Makes it harder to play, but it’s worth it for the tone
  9. Probably because there aren’t many fretless seven strings around.
  10. Thought I’d follow it to see if it was worth a punt - £122!! They must be rare.
  11. This was the state of my ‘64 Precision when I got her. This is her now. Life’s too short to own a bass you don’t play because you want to preserve its value. The crass analogy is that it’s like remaining celibate from your supermodel wife to keep her pristine for the next guy...
  12. The value of the pound is not helping. Was in New York a few weeks ago, and what used to be bargains are now just reasonable buys.
  13. The Mk Is are fantastic. My first bass is a TRB6 from that series - I still have it!
  14. Think this might be in the wrong forum... this is where bass guitars are listed.
  15. I don’t like the tone of the longer scale 34-37” ones, but the 32-35” Super P5 is the best tone I’ve ever had. I didn’t like the Tone-Fusion pot either - I put a Sadowsky pre in my Super P5 instead and I’m as happy with it as with anything I’ve ever tried.
  16. I think the Sandberg Superlights are now made of this too.
  17. Where did you buy it, out of curiosity?
