@Manton Customs You definitely know more about these things than I do - all I know is that Feline get my bass and guitar actions to absolute perfection for what I need, and I know they do these on mine in conjunction with a refret or full fret level, crown and dress.

True, oops. I will say that my BB435 is alarmingly close in terms of quality especially for the money. Am aware that the OP already has a BB or two, but for anyone else on the lookout for a 5-string PJ, it doesn’t get much better.

Flying with a bass - it's in a Mono gig bag
therealting replied to BassAgent's topic in Bass Guitars
I bought an SKB Bass Safe and use it for flying with a gig bag. A Vertigo will fit inside with the foam removed, otherwise most padded soft bags will go in. I’ve also seen people put a gig bag in a keyboard hard case. I love my Mono bags (I have more than 10), but if you value your bass at all, do not check your bass using one. -
Hmmm, been interested in shorter scale Precisions for some time - absolutely love my medium scale P. What’s the weight?

My Sadowsky has a little bit of fall-off built in on the highest frets which really helps. My techs of over 15 years at Feline Guitars routinely do this themselves on their guitars, on refrets and fret levels, and they have done this on most of mine with superb results.

Dingwall Supers are available in P/J config. I love my Super P5, probably my favourite bass of all time.

You have a J-style bass and a P (well, PJ) style bass, so you’re good to go gearwise. As others have said, choose the neck pickup, roll down the tone knob and enjoy.

I’m not a huge fan of the EMG setup in my Shuker 6-string, and have purchased a pair of Nordstrand Big Splits to pop in. The EMG pre is going to come out along with the EMG 45s, but I’m wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on how to wire them up. There will be five holes in the front of the bass (2 above 3) Should I go passive V/B/T with coil taps? Or 2/3 band pre? My favourite pre is the Sadowsky, although I also have Glockenklang and John East pres in my other active basses. That said, although it’s nice to have controls at my fingertips, I tend to run them flat into my Noble.

Why are there so few 5string precision bass'?
therealting replied to GisserD's topic in Bass Guitars
There also appear to be a few different shapes for five string precision pickups - do you divide them 3/2 or 2/3? Does the 2 side extend to be symmetrical with the 3 side, or do they keep it shorter? Personally I love my Dingwall Super P5 - extremely balanced all over the neck and wonderful clear tone. Fitted a Sadowsky pre and with Chromes on it I’m in tone heaven. -
I actually started on a six (a Mk I Yamaha TRB) and for a long time found it easier than a five-string. Less shifting, access to chords etc. I mainly play Ps these days and while I love my 61 and 64, my 5-string Dingwall Super P might just be the best bass I’ve played and owned. I feel like it could handle just about any gig.
