I tried one and liked it, but found it very heavy (I also had a full size Modern Player Jazz some time ago and it was 11lb).

Looks great, @Danuman! I’d initially considered putting some Nordstrands in it; but to be honest mine is just getting a tort guard made, some new Elixirs on and then it will be perfect to leave as is.

I really like my BB435, and have found myself reaching for it when heading out to gigs where the crowd might be a little rowdy. Holds its own in a collection that includes some pretty high-end stuff.

Ah, I went the other way, started with a Combustion and found I am much more at home on Super scale, had a matching pair of Super J and Super P until the J got stolen in a burglary.

I’ve been curious about those for a while, would be very interested in comparing one to my Super P.

Yeah I was pretty surprised too. I guess Jazz basses tend to sell more, but there has been a P resurgence of late.

Worth a read, if you haven’t already.

I waited a long time to get my medium scale 80s Squier P! It’s just amazing. @Rumple whom I bought it from had Gypsy Rose ones which he got quite inexpensively, but I never managed to find a decently priced one and then he sold me the Squier so I stopped looking.

Sorry, he plays a P35 with Dunlop flats! Just saw him last night.
-
That’s a very straightforward repair for a decent tech. You could even do it yourself with glue and a clamp.
-
A friend of mine uses them on his P34, not sure if the bridge design is the same. Does it work through the body?

The ratio of core to wrap makes a difference, which is where a custom maker like Newtone comes in.

@eude Those look gorgeous. Am enjoying your old 33” Shuker singlecut 6, but I can’t help but think I’d like a 32” or 31.5” even more.

My 61 and 64 have that lovely wide and shallow “C type” neck which is so comfortable to play. The Japanese Fenders are also fantastic - a FSR 60s Precision Lacquer was my gateway, and I recently acquired an 84 Squier MIJ medium scale Precision with an absolutely killer neck too.

I thought I was a Jazz guy for years, until I made the mistake of buying a P. Fast forward a few years and I now have five Ps including a Dingwall Super P and two pre-CBS Fenders. You have been warned.

Sorry to hear that, Si. Always around if you need a chat 👍

I’m mostly a P guy and like the feel of playing over the pickup, but can see how useful it would be to also have dual J pickups. Plus 32” scale...
