There’s never been a better time to buy an instrument on a budget, the build quality of the £150 instruments these days is as good as the £500 instruments from a couple decades ago. Personally I’d go with a secondhand Yamaha, I don’t think you will get better value than those. I paid not much more than your budget for my BB435 and it holds its own with my custom basses. After a year or so, you’ll probably figure out exactly what you want and then you can upgrade if you wish, and won’t lose any money on resale.

I still want one to match my MV4. Agree 100%, my 435 looks, feels and sounds like it should have cost 4x what I paid for it.

Shouldn’t leave an empty hole. Two volumes become a volume and a blend.

My Sadowsky is wired with a blend and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’d take the opportunity to gut the electronics and put good pickups in.

My advice is ignore factory spec. You only live once so... what the heck?

Speaking as someone who plays double bass - I don’t think the Takamine is really playable bowed. The radius is insufficient and the body isn’t cut away to allow bow use.

I have a Warwick Alien which is fantastic for noodling around the house without having to plug in, also perfect to playing along to songs through the phone speaker.

Congratulations! I just acquired a six string singlecut recently after dreaming about it for many years. Mine came with EMGs so am considering swapping those out. Yours looks lovely.
