  1. The MIJ Mustangs are excellent.
  2. Wonder how a passive bass boost works...!
  3. Just seen this IG post from Mattisson basses of some mods they did to a couple BBs... pretty tasty!
  4. My Yamaha BB435 ticks all those boxes for much less than £1k
  5. Doesn’t look like my thing, but would like to see it played before making my mind up for sure. I didn’t like the BBs until I saw them in playing position.
  6. Admittedly a few years ago, but I paid around £3k total for these two.
  7. The difference is between a production line and team-built custom shop vibe, I guess. Not sure which this would be for Strandberg, hopefully the latter!
  8. If you are happy to pay Nash prices, I would strongly consider a Bravewood.
  9. I was very interested in one until seeing £3k. At that price we are well into secondhand Canadian Dingwall territory and twice what a Combustion costs. It would have to be the last bass I ever need at that price!
  10. You have a helluva Andytude
  11. How about spending £200 quid on a Sadowsky Preamp DI or similar? Makes your passive jazz into an active monster.
  12. I think they’re NJ4SEs... or were they NJ4s? I have one set in my medium scale Jazz and one set in my MV4.
  13. That is properly mint! My refinished 64 in comparison.
  14. Great article, thanks for sharing!
  15. @Paulhauser No news sadly. Worse still, I realised a while later that my Bravewood ‘56 Precision was also taken. The Super J is the one I’d really like back. Apparently only about 2% of burglaries are solved in the UK. Thanks for checking in though.
  16. There is low end content, but obviously less the higher the note you are playing. How well it is received depends on the style of music you are playing and obviously what you play. I find 6s useful for sight reading as less shifting is required.
  17. @BigRedX the passive tone control is crucial. I personally like boosting the bass and treble very slightly, and then rolling down the passive tone control. The cool thing is that the passive tone is still great. I also swapped out the pickups in mine for Nordstrands.
  18. Anyone else remember the days when you couldn’t get rid of SR506s for £250? 😅
  19. Not sure what this has to do with improving a Sadowsky’s tone! 😅 I have Sadowsky preamps in two of my basses (Metro and my Dingwall super P5, and it was in my stolen Super J). It’s an awesome preamp. I also have the Preamp DI pedal, which has only been swapped out because I finally got my hands on a Noble.
  20. I think it’s because it would be too long to fit it in a case otherwise.
  21. Argh, this is gorgeous, and so light, and I’m not far from you, and I wish I could justify the cash!
  22. I do really like it. No idea if Nathan uses one in the studio, but it’s a surprisingly versatile bass and so comfy to play. I didn’t expect something of this scale to have such a nice slap sound in particular.
  23. “Make do” with an NE2. 😂😂😂
