  1. So many tyre kickers, so little commitment. This is a great cab and will serve someone really well.
  2. The Super scale instruments really are quite different beasts to the longscale ones. Recommend a try if you get the chance.
  3. What are the tones like? Very interested in this, would be more interested in P tones than J ones!
  4. I think the forum should have a rule against removing sale info after sale.
  5. Thanks guys, I’m in London SE3. Also realised that my Godin Multiac Nylon SA is gone (I played the Royal Albert Hall with it), and the beautiful 98 Sadowsky NYC Strat I bought from Roger himself at his workshop a few years ago is missing. Gutted. Here are the Facebook links if anyone would like to share. Very appreciated.
  6. Hope this is ok to post here, am really gutted about losing this one. Please spread the word and look out for my unique Dingwall Super J5 bass guitar (pictured on the right) which was stolen today. I arrived home to find out that my house had been burgled while I was at work. This has been one of my biggest nightmares, particularly as I have indoor cats and have always been terrified that they’d escape and get lost or run over, but despite the door being kicked in and open they were still around. This is more important than anything else, so I consider myself very fortunate indeed. All 12+ of my watches were taken too, but this bass (the one on the right in the first photo) is the thing I’d really like back. The key distinguishing features are the fanned frets, the brown pearloid pickguard, white pearloid block inlays on the fingerboard, a Sadowsky preamp, Luminlay side dots and a plexiglass ramp between the pickups. There is a Hipshot D-Tuner on the low B string with a double-stop lever, and the back of the headstock has been signed by Sheldon Dingwall of @dingwallguitars. This instrument has huge sentimental value to me - I saved up for a long time to buy it, and went on to save up for its twin Super P5. I would be prepared to offer a £300 cash reward - no questions asked - split between those responsible for its return, or donated to a charity of your choice. My thanks to the gentlemen from the police (who said several homes on my road got targeted) who helped secure my door until I can get it sorted out. Thanks for sharing this - really, really hope I get this bass back! @sadowskyguitars #dingwall #bass #guitar #stolen https://instagram.com/p/Bqu8HSAHaW3/
  7. It’s not a hard transposition, but neither is alto clef. The problem is that you lose it very quickly without practice, especially when it’s four ledger lines!
  8. @Dazed - £75 for the black bridges for you, £95 for the Ghost and used gold bridges for me?
  9. Maybe we can come to an arrangement where I take the gold bridges and Ghost system, and Dazed takes the black bridges?
  10. Marco, would the Ghost system work with the gold single bridges from the other post?
  11. Lower tension strings may help straighten the neck a bit. Ethically, any bass that’s no longer brand new should be sold as used, even if it’s absolutely immaculate.
  12. Ok, maybe not those two, but I think these two count 😊
  13. Had one almost exactly like this (except the removable headstock end) about a decade ago. Was a fantastic instrument, took it on a tour with Take That, and it travelled easily and filled up all the arenas beautifully with no feedback and solid sound. Would be tempted to have one again if I didn’t already have an Eminence, especially at that price!
  14. I have regular tension Fender flats and Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on my 61 and 64 Precisions so you don’t need super-reinforced necks as long as the truss rods still work well. However also consider the Thomastik Jazz Flats if you’re after lower tension flats, I have them on my Bravewood 56 and they feel very nice and sound lovely (Pino uses them on his 63).
  15. I’m very relieved it’s too heavy for me, I kept coming back to look at this. Bet it sounds amazing.
  16. I had a Combustion, didn’t get along with it due to the sound and the long scale length. Traded it up for a Super J and found “it”. Then bought a matching Super P, swapped in Sadowsky preamps, and I have the two best fivers I’ve ever had, and amongst the two best I’ve ever played.
  17. 45-130s aren’t super heavy strings. Sounds like the truss rod is maxed out. Creaking and pinging is probably sticky or narrow nut slots.
  18. Threw a little demo together for anyone wanting to hear it. EQ flat, mid-boost off, pickup blend centred between both pickups. Please don’t judge my fretless playing! https://www.dropbox.com/s/f7aar3tct5gfqu3/MTD Grendel Demo.mp3?dl=0
  19. I have the Rumble Combo V3 and think it’s outstanding for the money especially secondhand. They’re so cheap that I’m toying with getting a second one instead of an extension cab!
  20. The J-Retro takes a bit of getting used to. The mistake most people make is running the bass at the halfway detent - on the J-Retro, the bass is boost only, so flat is actually with the bass rolled all the way off.
  21. Interesting, which MXR is that? The frequencies are just one part of the equation. I actually don’t use my Sadowsky DI much any more since getting a Noble, which supposedly has very similar frequency points but sounds and feels very different.
