  1. By lightweight, I assume you mean 7lb rather than 7kg! 😂
  2. Ah Combustions - the gateway Dingwall! Careful, I started with one and now have two Canadian ones (Super J and Super P).
  3. Because Basschat owners are like Angelica Scuyler in Hamilton - they’ll never be satisfied. On a serious note, it means bargains can be had. I could never have afforded my Sadowsky or my two Dingwalls brand new, but benefitted from the fickleness of others on here.
  4. I have three six strings, a Ken Smith Design 6-string Jazz, a Yamaha TRB6 Mk I (upgraded with a Glockenklang pre) and a Yamaha RBX6JM (upgraded with a Schack pre). The Yamahas are fantastic instruments especially for the money. The first model TRB6 in particular is as good as pretty much anything out there in the same price bracket, but they are both great albeit very different beasts. The TRB6 has wide string spacing and shorter scale length (33 7/8”) and the RBX has narrow string spacing and longer scale length (I have it capoed at the first fret).
  5. Hipshot D-tuners are designed to be direct swap with no permanent alterations to the instrument.
  6. I tend to favour the no-blocks look in general, so these sound appealing. Do they have a PJ version.
  7. What are the major differences?
  8. I would get a secondhand one. They come up regularly on the classifieds here and you will be able to sell it on for the same amount if you ever decide to.
  9. I like the fan of my Dingwall Super J5 and Super P5. I liked the fan of the Ibanez six string when I had mine (although the neck was too thin). I’m very interested in trying the Strandberg bass when it appears.
  10. The price that Fenders are these days, you’re probably better off speccing a Limelight or Warmoth or something. More options, similar or less money, probably better built.
  11. I have to say my Fender Rumble 500 V3 Combo has blown me away, especially for the money.
  12. Yes, but there’s a Rumble 500 Head for sale there for £300, which I would certainly get over the 350.
  13. I’m sure the head could be couriered quite easily, it’s quite compact.
  14. Is 1A definitely enough for the pedals you are using, and is it definitely a 1A supply? It does sound like a power draw issue.
  15. Whats the horn placement like? Shifting the nut towards your body can have a huge impact on playability. Some Dingwalls have a rear strap button installed to accomplish this - can also improve balance.
  16. I don’t think you’ll regret this, especially if you pick up a good secondhand one as they are great value and have excellent resale. My Metro J and my NYC S-type are exceptional instruments.
