  1. Bump. Interesting trades considered, particularly a Noble preamp or a medium scale Precision... I have a few things listed so could combine for the right trade.

  6. Not sure how I missed this - long gone I imagine!
  7. I do the same. The problem with removing instruments whenever you stop somewhere is you’re alerting those around you to the fact that there might be other stuff in the car.
  8. I definitely try to avoid leaving anything in my car, but it’s particularly difficult when gigging a distance from home and having to make motorway service stops!
  9. These are super rare - only made 200 IIRC!
  10. That’s lovely. Did you ever sell your Super P?
  11. Is that a piece of paper under the B string at the nut?
  12. I use D’Addario EXPs. Feel and sound good, and last ages.
  13. I have two fantastic unlined fretlesses in the Classifieds at the minute.
  14. What are the controls, out of curiosity?
  15. Interesting - wonder how it compares with, say, the Noble.
  16. That’s true to some extent perhaps, but you’d be surprised. Most luthiers aren’t exactly wealthy, many are just about making a decent wage, and more than you’d expect are only a few months from going out of business.
  17. Yup. Fodera are on record as saying that they want to make sure that their craftsmen and everyone working for them deserves to be paid a decent living wage for where they’re based, hence their prices.
  18. This is generally why I buy secondhand stuff and keep an eye on those prices to make sure I get a good deal. I end up with something that I couldn’t afford new, and have minimal loss if I decide to sell on.
  19. A Sadowsky is still a Sadowsky whether it’s made in Tokyo or NYC... but guess which one people pay more for?
  20. I opted for a Sadowsky preamp/DI. Definitely makes a huge difference!
  21. I’ve read about that elsewhere. I use a Sadowsky preamp/DI on my board so it doesn’t bother me, but it does seem to be an odd design choice.
  22. I see your conundrum, no shortage of 8-hole SSS guards, or 11-hole HSS ones. Vinyl wrap?
  23. Tort guard? 😉
  24. I’m one of those annoying people who generally pick instruments up very quickly. Give me a couple days with almost any instrument and I’ll get a decent tune out of it. Taught myself clarinet in a few hours with the aid of a fingering chart, worked out harp in half an hour, sax, cello, drums etc. I’ve gigged on guitar, bass, drums, keys, percussion, and lead and backing vocals professionally. The embouchure of brass instruments totally doesn’t work for me though.
