PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: I sold this cab a while ago, but the buyer founded that there was a rattle at high volumes that they weren’t happy with. The truck bed liner paint that the previous owner used to finish it also ended up sealing the cabinet shut, making it tricky to open up to diagnose any issues, so I collected it and issued a full refund. With that in mind, I am dropping the price dramatically to £200 collected, no offers, as I just want it gone. This is a serious bargain on very expensive cab for someone who has the time to open it up and fix the issue. Potential trades: Cali76, Helix Stomp, or try me ————— These are pretty legendary for their projection and for packing a lot of power into a small size. This is partly due to one front-facing and one side-firing 12” speaker, allowing for a more compact 2x12” than you would normally expect. Also equipped with a titanium dome tweeter (which you can dial in on the back). Has a sturdy “truck bed liner” paint finish which is easily and cheaply refreshed if you so wish. At present I’d say the cab is in a good gigged condition. It could be restored to immaculate fairly easily with a lick of paint and new corner protectors. Speakon and dual jack inputs on the back alongside the tweeter attenuator. Collection preferred from London SE3. If you want it shipped, you need to arrange collection. Here are the unpackaged specs: Weight 22 kg Dimensions 62 × 46 × 46 cm I have some other stuff for sale here, would certainly be tempted by upward trades for more than one item.

This fantastic little P/J is probably the best value fretless you can get! Plays and sounds like something several times the price, and while it is certainly a worthy first or backup fretless, it’s actually good enough to be your main gigging one. Unlined rosewood board, maple neck with skunk stripe. Alder body I believe with sunburst finish, passive VVT electronics. Very decent hardware, and the neck is as comfortable as you’d expect. Low action with plenty of mwah! I think these are Dunlop flatwounds on them. I am not sure of the exact weight, but this is a lightweight bass and balances very well on a strap. Collection preferred from London SE3. I have some other stuff for sale here, would certainly be tempted by upward trades for more than one item.

Beautiful Michael Tobias-designed 5-string fretless, crafted in the Czech Republic. Sold as the “Stadium” model for the Bass Centre. These are very nicely made, and both play and sound great. I would say condition is pretty good, there are playing marks (and gloss black is pretty unforgiving of fingerprints etc). - I think it’s a poplar body. Lovely sculpted shape including a beautiful heel contour - maple neck with unlined 2-octave wenge fingerboard and matching headstock facing - black hardware - Schaller tuners, Hipshot bridge - 34” scale, 18.5mm spacing - Bartolini J pickups - Bartolini 2-band electronics, plus three-way mid switch (boost / flat / cut). One of the knobs appears to be missing a cap. - currently strung with Dunlop flatwounds - setup and custom ebony ramp by Martin Petersen at The Bass Gallery, plenty of mwah! This is a lightweight bass (3.9kg) and balances very well on a strap. Little demo here, please forgive the playing! Pickup blend centered, EQ flat, mid boost off. https://www.dropbox.com/s/f7aar3tct5gfqu3/MTD Grendel Demo.mp3?dl=0 Collection preferred from London SE3. TRADED: One-of-a-kind Conklin 8-string Bass (now £999)

Not tried attaching an MP3 file here before so this is a bit of an experiment, but here is a rough little demo of me playing Billie Jean on this monster. All parts played on this bass, including the beat, bass parts, chords and melody! Best heard with headphones - forgive the very quick mix. Billie Jean - Conklin Custom 8 String Bass.mp3 -

I’ve just gone with a Fender Rumble V3 Combo, it punches WAY above its very light weight IMO and I’ve had some pretty high-end gear (Epifani, EBS, Gallien Krueger, Genz Benz, Schroeder, EA etc).

I got a V3 500 Combo recently and really like it. Great sound, pokey, and very reasonable weight!

Wiring combo with switching speaker jack input
therealting replied to therealting's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thanks David. To clarify, I’d be switching the speaker input between the combo and an external amp, but I take your point. I wonder if it might be better to wire the internal amp to a jack plug, then plug that into the external socket to the speakers. -

I have a Fender Rumble 500 v3 Combo that I really like - lightweight, reasonably compact, affordable and actually sounds great. I’ve always used heads and cabs, and have usually brought a spare head along just in case. The Rumble doesn’t have a speaker jack or cable accessible from the outside of the cab. Can I install a switching jack such that plugging in a speaker jack disables the connection to the built-in amp and allows me to use an external head? Thanks!

Acoustic guitar builders steam the sides before bending to avoid cracking.

I’d be tempted to swap them around to try: 1. Neck 2. Neck and bridge 3. Bridge 4. All on If it’s solderless, it’s really easy - just take a photo and make notes so you can reverse it if desired.
-
You could swap the bridge and neck pickup connections on the pot to get: 1. Neck 2. Neck/middle 3. Middle 4. All on.

SOLD Precision Bass, Sunburst and Maple, £250

Perhaps the owner at the time thought it would protect the wood or something. Not all owners are vintage minded - the previous owner of my 64 Precision had the body replaced with a plywood one and also had a REALLY bad refret done (some of the higher frets were done with two separate pieces of wire...)

New Fender Signature Bass - Justin Meldal-Johnsen RW Mustang Bass

Id be intrigued to find out how they compare to the CIJs - I have one of those and it’s really nice already. -
I love my Super P5 (similar colours to yours), it’s pretty much the best bass I’ve ever owned. Really want a four string version now...
