  1. I met Roger and had a look around his factory when I visited in 2015. Ended up walking out with an NYC S-Type that day which blew my mind - and he was kind enough to set it up, sign it for me and write down the measurements he uses for his setup. It’s a phenomenal guitar, up there with Suhrs and Andersons. The Metro I have is fantastic too, up there with my two Canadian Dingwalls and definitely better made than my pre-CBS Precisions.
  2. I get that, but the last thing I need in my house is more tools! 😂
  3. I’m pretty sure the build quality of the MetroExpress will still be very decent. If not, £100 spent on a fret dressing at your favourite luthier would make up the difference.
  4. I picked one up at the LBGS as a backup, but have ended up using it a fair bit. Great little amp!
  5. I just got a 32” neck, what are my options?
  6. The K&Ks are excellent pickups full stop, I have them installed in all my acoustics.
  7. Several exceptionally capable guitarist friends of mine (Rob Harris, most notably) have raved about this guitar having tried it. I have a Sadowsky, a 1963 Fender and numerous other Strats in my collection, and I see one of these in my future.

    Curved Capo

I often use a Shubb “the wrong way” on tunes where I want to flick it off mid-song. For example, in “Under The Bridge” I start with the capo on the 2nd fret for the intro and main song, then flick it off for the end section in A.
  9. I’m a Strat guy, humbuckers on a set-neck short-scale guitar sound wrong for funky stuff IMO!
  10. This is a great deal, if I wasn’t in London I’d bite your hand off for them!
  11. I have a 35” and a 34” fretless (both unlined) and don’t have issues moving between them: I am equally bad on both! If reach is the main issue, relocating strap / horn positions can help too. Check out Dingwall’s D-bird strap position for one example.
  12. I picked one up at this year’s LBGS to serve as a backup - how can you argue with a backup head that’s the size of a DI box?! Have ended up using it regularly for rehearsals, and even ran through it as my stage monitor at the Royal Festival Hall. I run it flat, with the Sadowsky preamp on my Nano board providing the tone control.
  13. It is a reissue, but it’s an AVRI, meant to be vintage accurate. It no longer is. I’m just telling you what the others are saying.
  14. What everyone is saying is that it is more practical and functional, but it is less original. Putting Hipshot quick-release bridge makes it more functional, but makes it less original. Putting an active preamp makes it more functional, but less original. Putting on an adjustable nut and locking tuners makes it more functional, but less original. People but the American Vintage series because they are faithful to the original Fenders of the time. Modifications like the trussrod slot devalue such instruments.
  15. What does it do to nitro finishes? Just very paranoid about my pre-CBS Fenders...
  16. Have you popped this on the Dingwall group on FB?
  17. This. There was a decent Yamaha TRB in the classifieds recently. Used Ibanez SoundGears are also good for the money.
  18. My Dingwall Super P5 and Super J5 are two of the finest fivers I’ve ever played. The Super P5 is completely passive with a Tone-Fusion control, the Super J5 has recently been fitted with a Sadowsky preamp but still sounds good passive.
  19. I’d love a 32” six string, that would pretty much be my ideal config for one.
