1. Bet this is beautiful - shame Photobucket directs me into an endless stream of ads
2. Double basses have around a 41" scale, you have to use a 1-2-4 fingering pattern in lower positions though.
3. Poly finish? I really shouldn't...
4. I got a Deko one for my school. Heavy too, and I'm not about to swap my Sadowsky for it but it is surprisingly - if not alarmingly - good for the money.
5. The best thing you can do for yourself when learning to play bass is avoid one-finger-per-string at the lower end of the bass. Have a look at Simandl fingering for double bass and adopt that to electric bass. I'm a guitarist and play Fender-scale basses as well as Dingwalls (32-35").
6.
One last need Xmas money type bump. Price reduced to £75!
Shame I'm in London!
7.
I bought a tort 10 hole from Sims two weeks ago - beautiful (see thread here on tort plates for image). About £90 but custom and gorgeous celluloid nitrate. I have the original Fender left if of interest (though should probably keep it)
Did they do it from the old guard? I'd love to have one made for my Dingwall Super J.
8. I've sent the seller messages both here and on Gumtree and I don't think they were ever read
9. Trigger pulled. More info here - https://instagram.com/p/BN1jM-nBEX5/
10. These two, my Dingwall Super P and Super J.
11. I had a neck-through version one of these in six string a number of years ago. Killer bass! If you wrap the strings the other way (the outside), you get straight string pull at the headstock.
12.
Really looking to try one of these since I'm not enjoying your comfort of the Dingwall too much, how does it compare to the combustion line? Always like ibby necks, how does it compare to their necks from the BTB and high end SR range ?
I'm not too familiar with the BTB necks or the other SRs, but compared with the Combustion I had (MK 1) the neck is slimmer and of course wider... however the spacing is slightly narrower. It's also obviously shorter in scale and the fan is less extreme. Presumably the Combustion is what you have now.
13. Absolutely love mine - keep looking for one Dodge, they're well worth it.
14. That is an MV4, I have the exact same model in the same colour (with a tort guard). INCREDIBLE bass.
15. Thanks guys - think I'm going to get a Bravewood instead... could even get two for the price! (:
16. Some interesting offers, but still here.
17. Still here despite lots of interest and several offers.
18. I have a series I TRB6 which was my first bass (got a great deal on it), it's a phenomenal instrument. The build quality is absolutely faultless, and the acoustic tone is fantastic. The preamp is a little bit hissy but is easily replaced. I was very comfortable with it when it was my only / primary bass, but having adjusted to other basses now I find it a little wide and heavy for me.
19. Can I ask what it weighs?
20. Yeah I'm really torn. It was restored by one of the finest in the business (I own one of his replicas and it is indistinguishable from the real thing other that two deliberate differentiators), and the asking price is under £4k
21. Yeah that's the thing, but it is priced with that in mind. It's a handwound Bareknuckle, with CTS solid shafts and an old cap
