1. Bought a Schroeder cab from Chris yesterday and ended up having a great chat with him and his missus while we waited for the bank transfer to clear. Going to stay in touch with them, properly good people!
2. Would be tempted to pop you an offer if you were in London!
3. And that is THE colour combo. Nothing like a pair of twins (: Enjoy them!
4. Wonder if it's because those were vintage spec pickups, and a more powerful pickup might help? I only want it for the low end frequencies really.
5. Marry them up, then do some measuring. The 12th fret should be halfway between the nut and the bridge (allowing for some compensation for intonating the different strings).
6. Well this is what I want to know (: On my Strats, my neck pickups are generally lowered to balance with bridge and middle pickups which have to be raised to increase their output.
7. Has anyone added a "stealth" woofer pickup to their bass for those EB-style lows? I have one on my Yamaha Attitude Special and it sounds great mixed in with the P pickup. I'd love to have one hidden on a normal-looking P bass, I imagine I'd have to use quite a powerful one since it would be below the pickguard.
8. I send all my stuff to Jonathan at Feline Guitars in Croydon. Yes, he does guitars too but I've found his neck and fret work to be first rate. He's worked on both my Canadian Dingwalls, my Sadowskys and numerous vintage Fenders. I've referred several people to him who have all been very happy, and he's not expensive either. Of course if you are wanting a bass specialist then skip right to Martin at the Gallery
9. My TRB6 MK I was my first bass, still a monster if a little bit for what I've gotten used to now. The JP was always what I really wanted. What a stunner!
10. Your collection never ceases to amaze me (:
11. Quite interested. Where do they rank in terms of brightness or thumpiness? Feel wise, similar to say Thomastiks?
12. What did the old paint reaction look like out of curiosity? I have several nitro instruments and am paranoid about this
13. I prefer a smaller body size too, my Sadowsky does that for me nicely. The Warmoth Dinky J is very similar.
14. My Dingwall Super P5 has a special tone pot wiring that acts as a normal passive tone roll off below the centre detent, and a passive mid cut above the centre detent.
15. Do you know if Limelights can be ordered with finish checking?
16. I have a couple splittable-humbucker guitars (notably a PRS CE24), and about nine Strats... no comparison IMO, the Strat is the sound and the split hums can't compete.
17.
Agree,my metro feels and looks and sounds amazing but its a ton weight!
My MV4 is 8.5lb, I'm one of the lucky ones! Also it's the sleeker shape, not the Ultra Vintage. Ash body, maple neck
18. Who's the maker and how much are they out of curiosity?
19. Spoke to him yesterday and I believe he's decided to hang on to it.
20. I made a similar transition (Combustion to Super J and Super P), best move I've made.
21. But don't forget that the overall cost of living has risen too, and will continue to rise as the cost of imports goes up. Companies won't be able to keep as many people employed. It's all pretty bad really
22. Have one of these - they are LOUD, one of those rare situations where the manufacturers have understated the wattage if anything. Lovely tone too, and the controls are very musical.
