1. The Metro is made in Japan, where the cost of living and labour is incredibly expensive. My Metro is as good as any NYC that I've tried, the only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did was a chambered body. In every other respect it compares very well. (I do also own an NYC S-type guitar. The two are both fantastic)
 2.
And another THR10 vote. Great sound from such a small thing and editing software for iPad or pc adds masses of flexibility. I run my pedalboard in to it too. For something a little louder I use a Vox Valvetronix VT40X which is also nice
Didn't know there was an iPad app!
 3. Is the thumb rest removable, or screwed permanently into the top?
 4. Another vote for the Yamaha THR10, it's astonishingly good for the money and size. I don't bother getting the Kemper out for practice any more.
 5. Ah, gotcha. Will remove the string and try again. Thanks for the clarifications!
 6. Love my Dingwall Super P. Passive, balanced across all strings, smooth as anything and with a neck to die for. If I was to buy any P right now, it would probably be a Sadowsky. My Sadowsky Jazz is fantastic. I do agree on the Yamahas - I have an Attitude Special which is astonishingly good for the money.
 7. Just to update - Pyramid have kindly agreed to send me another E string, so I'll see how that goes. I have a set of TI Flats waiting in the wings if that doesn't work out.
Pyramids seems to twist easily - re-seat the string a couple of times to make sure there's no twisting.
What do you mean?
 8. These look great with a tort guard too, easily available from Sadowsky. This is mine. They're amazing machines.
 9. I have a guitar double and a bass guitar double, superb cases. If you were local I might be tempted to make an offer.
 10.
Someone buy this They're really great. I already have one in my bitsa P bass.
What do they sound like? Toying with getting and putting it in my Yamaha Attitude Special...
 11. Thanks. Is there any difference with these? It looks like these ones don't have the Aguilar logo so I wasn't sure if it's a different generation or something. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/aguilar-60s-series-precision-bass-pickup-set-AG4P60/113932
 12.
The "green" Fender set of flats plays fine in my newly acquired CIJ 51 P, they are also long enough to go through body, if your bridge allows it. I think they have a rather standard mellow/all-round flat attitude (as opposed to more peculiar Rotosounds) and are not expensive at all. I slapped them on already one year old, so quite worn in, all strings sound balanced.
Forgot about those! I have a set on my Yamaha Attitude Special, they're pretty good and I remember them being REALLY cheap too.
 13.
TIs or La Bella low tension flats if you have hand issues.
That reminds me I might actually have a five string set of TI Jazz Flats somewhere I could cannibalise.
 14.
There are lots of different sets. I'd adapt and just lighten my touch. According to Bob Babbitt Jamerson played with a very light RH technique.
I'll check them out. It's more my LH that's an issue really. Tendinitis I imagine.
 15.
I had 2 sets and both of them had really dead E strings
Disproportionately so compared to the others? Doesn't bode well for me ):
 16.
I really hope there are good bassist gigging up and down the country , who don't know what MIA , MIM or CIJ means
No shortage of decent bassists tearing it up on Squiers.
 17. Happy to stand corrected, was only going by the seller's assertion that it was a 35" scale. Pretty easy to clear up if the bass had just been measured! I have a Mk I TRB6, it was my first bass and although it is a huge beast, it forced me to develop good technique as the neck is so wide.
 18.
Might be worth checking one out at some point, that would be more useable size, although the fanning on the combustion never really caused me any issues, in fact I would say it was its best bit and certainly not why it had to move on.
I traded my Combustion for the Super J. It was a great bass, these two just fit me and my smaller hands better.
 19.
I know this is heresy to the vintage purist, but I use nickel rounds on my '57 P single coil which make it purr like a contented pussycat. A warm piano like quality with a little more definition than flats. Very much a personal thing strings!
That's what they had on before and they did sound pretty good! Lively with the single coil pickup with lots of definition and actually a bit of grind. As I haven't owned a pre 57 before I thought I'd see what they sound like with flats since I really like flats on my Ps, but I may well return to rounds at some point.
 20.
Pre 57 Precision? You need La Bella 0760M Deep Talking Bass "Original 1954" flat wound strings..
I've heard those are quite tough on the fingers, and I have issues with my hands as it is. Do they come in a lower tension / smaller gauges?
