1. The reviews of these have me wondering if I really need my Sadowsky...
2. Bought an SKB Bass Safe from tenpins and had a lovely easy transaction. Thanks man!
3.
agree totally with the sound... my large aging arthritic hands just don't cut the skinny neck though. toying with swapping the neck for a precision one but I wounldn't know where to start
Buy a precision neck Remove strings and unbolt the old neck Bolt on the new neck Restring Set up (:
4. People forget just how massively labour costs figure into the price of workshop instrument vs mass-produced factory instruments. Had a long chat with Sheldon Dingwall and confirmed with him that while most people think his basses are expensive (and they're not cheap), he pays his workers a fair wage in a country where the cost of living is very high. Godins are also from Canada, but they are the largest manufacturer in the country with huge economies of scale. Sadowsky Metros are made in Japan - if you've been to Japan you'll know that the cost of living is very high, so it's not very much cheaper to produce there than it is in the States for the most part. We're spoilt by the mass-produced machine-made instruments we get from China (getting more expensive as the cost of living there increases), Korea, Indonesia etc. Many of us wouldn't be happy with the per-hour income that high-end luthiers and workshops make.
5. I had a Modern Player Jazz 5, and it was a superb bass especially when I fitted a a John Eaat J-Retro Deluxe. Had to sell it as I don't have a great back, but man that thing sounded and played nice.
6. Hmmm. Might a trade with a carved top / flat back Andreas Zeller be of interest? I keep meaning to take it for a setup and some of the edges are a little damaged, but otherwise it's served me well. Edit: ignore me, it's a 3/4!
7. Still got the Sadowsky! Toyed with trading it a couple of times but it'll take something special to shift it. The MB800 is great. Great transparent tone, warm but not overly so unless you dial it in that way. If anything I think the power rating is conservative, it's got serious welly. Did a gig at the Royal Festival Hall with it and my Dingwall Super P and it was fantastic.
8. I use Feline Guitars down in Croydon, very happy with their work. They've done 3 refrets for me and countless fret levels and setups.
9. The G3 is absolutely superb for the money, especially the delays and reverbs. It's basically my entire acoustic gigging rig now.
10. I have the THR10, it's a fantastic little practice amp. Not bad for bass either!
11. Although there isn't apparently one particular one given that he would tailor each amp to each customer, I love the Dumble sound, there's something about that smooth touch-responsiveness you can get out of them. I have a Custom Tones Inc Ethos Overdrive that formed the basis of my tone for almost a decade. Bought a Kemper last year after my Mesa Boogie and pedalboard got stolen, and several of my main gigging profiles are Dumbles. They're not for every situation, but damn they sound good.
12. I definitely don't need these to go with my new MB-800... 🤔 Glad to see you still have that lovely Alpher!
13. I put GFS pickups in my PRS Singlecut SE and they transformed it for the better. I had a 59 in the bridge and a Mean 90 in the neck.
14. Bump. Complete with all strings now and has had a fret level and setup by Feline Guitars in Croydon.
15. Gotta love those 50s-era Strats, here's the one I gig most heavily
16. Seen this? I've played it and it's a stunning instrument. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/290360-fender-55-precision-relic-project/page__pid__3120435#entry3120435
17. You sure you definitely want to sell it? My first bass was a Yamaha TRB 6, one of the Mk I models. Looking back I'm not sure how I played it, the neck was enormously wide! I toyed with selling it several times, but have kept it for sentimental reasons and am glad I have. Sometimes I get it out again and give myself nostalgic RSI 😁
18.
Still for sale? And does it come with a case of any sort?
Original ad says a Mooradian gigbag. If it helps the sale, I am happy to contribute a hardcase in exchange for the Mooradian... but it looks like this may be reserved anyway
19. I don't think the country of manufacture was on the back of the headstock.
20. The person getting this is not only getting a great bass but is also helping a good cause.
21. I'd suggest that it would really help your sale to say whether this is for guitar or bass double bag. I have one of each and they're both excellent.
22. Played this bass at Chris' and it's a fantastic instrument. Balanced, looks the part and fantastic open tone. The person who gets this is going to want to play it a lot...
