  1. Saw the Manchester show last night. I've been a big fan of all the Porcupine Tree output and his solo material and really enjoyed the show. Like you say I think the bass could have been handled better. Great set though, going back to some 15 yr old stuff as well as the latest CD. The stripped back him and his guitar version of Even Less was outstanding.
  2. That's what the conductor is for, amongst other things. There are a plethora of good conductor and viola player jokes.
  3. Sorry to be a tedious bore, but quite a few orchestral players wear earplugs (as do some conductors). Normally it's the 8dB attenuation filters which do just fine. I know a few players go for the 15dB filters (in and around the horn section mostly) which I use for band work.
  4. Maybe not all have had several incarnations but off the top of my head: Yardbirds, Deep Purple, Faces, Pretenders, RHCP, Metallica More controversial maybe, Pink Floyd, AC/DC
  5. Wasn't there some pretty grim customer service issues and a takeover? I tend to favour Strings Direct atm.
  6. Either way two tribute bands without Mr Squire then, and imho Rabin is not an adequate substitute for Steve Howe. As I say make your choice and pay your money
  7. Is it maybe that not everybody holds your world view of what a band line up should be. I personally am quite relaxed about an evolving line up in any band and there have been a few global bands that have done just this. If this is a red line for you that is fine, but it's not for some of us. For what it's worth I completely agree that BB was/is a far better drummer than AW, but I've only seen BB once with Yes and AW mulitple times so I associate him with the "classic" line up. What I choose to spend my hard-earned on is my decision, and if you believe I've been overcharged that's fine too, your choice not to go.

Brendan just acquired some pickups from me. Swift payment, good comms, valued forum member. Thanks for your business.
  9. D'Addario have always been great at this. I received a replacement set when I reported a dead string.
  10. Good man. I have pretty much all of their output (even some of the tribute material )
  11. I was meaning Syd Barrett being replaced by DG.
  12. Better start going through all my Pink Floyd albums too and binning anything with imposter David Gilmour playing.
  13. Seeing the show in Manchester at the weekend. The last tour was probably gig of the year for me so the bar is set high.
  14. We do just enough songs in Eb tuning to make it worth taking two basses one tuned E the other down a semitone.
  15. Next time I speak to the Yes boys I'll let them know your views
  16. Probably the camera being shocked by the sudden appearance of sunlight. It's black really.
  17. After what has felt like a while, but was in fact only a week and a bit here's the new acquisition courtesy of Freddie75 of this parish. I've been on the hunt for a Spector to replace the original Legend I had 7 or so years ago and which has proved elusive to track down and buy back.
  18. Hi there I'm doing some general spring cleaning in the spares draw. These strings are all very lightly used having been taken off basses I have acquired and been restrung with my own personal favs. From left to right they are: Nickel round wounds - uncertain as to the brand but less than 6 months old when I bought the bass they were on (Fender-type 4-in-line headstock) Rotosound Swingbass. Off a 2 over 2 Specor, but massive ammounts of silk left so should fit anything £10 posted UK Mainland for both or £5 per set with £1 postage. Thanks for looking and here is a pic:
  19. Hi folks Thanks for stopping by. Here is a Fender gig bag that is now surplus to requirements. It has the odd spot on it and some light scuffing on the bottom that I have tried to capture in the pics. All the zips work fine and it's generally in very good and serviceable condition. The shoulder straps are in one of the pockets and are in fine shape too. NOW SOLD THANKS Cheers and here are the pics:
  20. And yet you're then one that said Yes wasn't about the listening experience, it's certainly what I go to gigs to do.
  21. Responded to. Now sold, thanks for the interest
  22. Interesting. In which case, any considering the comments above, the so-called classic Yes line-up of Anderson/Howe/Wakeman/Squire/White must also be no more than a classy tribute to the original band?
  23. Couldn't disagree more. But let's leave it there shall we?
  24. Alan White was playing but too frail to do the whole set. I would gently suggest giving them a listen before dismissing the new line up. Steve Howe was not an original member, nor was Alan White, and it has always been the band policy to evolve. Chris Squire urged Billy Sherwood to take over his role and to keep Yes going.
  25. Just come home from seeing Yes at the Liverpool Philharmonic. Excellent set which I think I can regurgitate if anybody is interested. Chris Squire's replacement Billy Sherwood was using a selection of v nice Spector basses includingwhat I think was one of the 30th Anniversay models with the fish on the fretboard. Forgot to add that the Spectors sounded awesome and just as good as Chris's Ric. Closed eyes I was hard-pressed to tell the difference. Dodgy phone pic follows:
