1. Due to some rather unfortunate news on the family health front I'm going to have to sell a few basses and generate some cash. Thise who know me will understand what a wrench selling these basses is going to be but needs must when the devil drives so to speak. All my basses get gigged but equally, they are all very well looked after so please buy with confidence and check my feedback. So here goes. First up is my ACG P-Type 4-string, the first of its kind for Alan. In immaculate condition and with a quality gig bag. Here are ACG's pics and specs: http://archive.acguitars.co.uk/portfolio/0252-p-type-4/ I have plenty of additional pics so please just ask if your interested. Quality bass, nice and light at under 8.5lbs by my scales, the active/passive EQ is very flexible too. Looking for £800 ex works. Secondly is my ACG Harlot 4-string. Also in immaculate condition with a good quality gig bag. Even lighter at just under 7.5lbs this one. ACG pics and specs here: http://archive.acguitars.co.uk/portfolio/0218-harlot-4/ I have plenty of additional pics so, as always, please ask. Looking for £800 ex works. I would prefer to hand over/meet in person if possible as these are custom builds rather than a more off the shelf variety of bass and I would like to ensure that you are happy with the bass. Thanks for looking
2. Is the problem not that t'interweb has become the place vent one's spleen on any minor grievance from the safety of your terminal without all that troublesome problem of saying something less complimentary to somebody's face? We've all become closet Victor Meldrews. Anybody on here tried chatting to people on public transport?
3. I used to own one of the older SR1500 with the slightly left-field EQ. Great bass for very little money, on my short(ish) list of "why on earth did I sell that" basses. Just saw the very same instrument up for sale again on evilbay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-SR1500-Bass-Guitar-/322612418641?hash=item4b1d32d851:g:lxcAAOSwMvtZRM5Q
4. There was one on Evilbay from the US that was on auction with a start of c.£885 and a BIN of around £1,150 iirc. Any idea why Fender never put lollipop tuners on this model?
5. I really don't think oxidation of the electronics over 7 years is a major concern unless it has been kept in a fish tank (with fish). You'll see immediately form the hardware if that has been the case). My 51 year old P bass works just fine. I have bought basses unseen and so far so good if you take some precautions as the boys and girls have been saying above.
6. I owned a Fenix P/J for a while. Nothing wromng with it at all, perfectly nice bass.
7. Good knowledge, thanks for that.
8. Hi all For sale is this virtually new set of Sandberg standard fit s/steel roundwounds. The came on a new bass but as I prefer nickles I took them straight off without playing a note. The strings are cut for a 34"scale 4 in-line bass but had quite a few turns around the machines. Anyway, unused (but without original packaging) - at a very reasonable £12 posted UK mainland.
9. I think, for me at any rate, part of the fun is wondering who owned the bass before me and what was it used for. There are certain tunes, maybe some old blues standards, that I just get the feeling the bass knows this song. Over-sentimentalising of course
10. I'm fairly sure I made bad taste fashinable before then having given advice to Michael Foot on dress sense
11. Does anybody know what year Fender introduced white perloid pickguards for basses? Can't find anything on t'interweb. Thanks in advance.
12. The VM4 is the most recent addition, a bit of an impulse buy when I saw it with the non-reversed split coil pickup. Quite hard to chose between that one and the TT (passive). The VS isn't getting much of a look in at the moment though as the P pickup on the VM has it all covered. Sometimes, however, only a P bass will do
13. Quick pic I've been meaning to do for a while of my mini flock of three Cali II basses.
14. It's going to be a '63J black over white with matching headstock. The wear and tear to be modeled on a vintage jazz bass.
15. Fair dinkum, as they say in Bradford. Thanks Karl, hope you're keeping well young man.
