1. Karlfer has an Amercian Special Precision for sale, they have very nice necks, pretty slim.
2. Unlined for me but luminlay side dots (on the fret positions).
3. There's a guy on here in a Math Metal band, can't remember his name but will keep thinking about it until I do Ha! Got it, it's Dread Bass. Nice guy.
4. Dunlops on all mine with no issues. Totally agree that the ideal would be flush mounted though.
In an ideal world I would love Dunlop Flush Mounted Locks fitted on all my basses. Fodera fit them as standard and I love 'em, but Im not taking a drill to and of my basses that don't already have them
5.
I didn't realise Jack Bruce was using one until I saw the clips on t'telly. It's already been said, the eighties coloured the public perception of what fretless was supposed to sound like. The great "mwah" is what does it, in my humble bumble.
Check JB's fretless playing at the Cream reunion gigs at the Albert Hall. Very tasteful, I partiuclarly like the lines he's playing on Stormy Monday.
6.
There is a bluesy rock LP coming out soon on my which I play Fretless throughout. Watch this space.
Excellent, please keep us in the loop (well me at any rate).
7. All I have at the moment is the original fit pickups from a Squier Vintage Modified Precision 5-string. Happy to lend them out.
8. After a few bits have been upgraded.
9.
I own basses with fretboards made of rosewood, ebony, maple, pau ferro, ebanol, carbon fibre, and triple-ply toilet tissue. OK, I made the last one up.
I think you'll find double-ply quilted toilet tissue is the way to go. Stay well away from Izal Medicated though.
10.
Their live show was imo far superior to their albums. Saw tyem supporting Stones in 82.
I saw that tour at Wembley. I seem to remember Black Uhuru on the bill too.
11. Regular abuser of D'Addario EXL170BT sets on fretted basses and TIs on the fretless ones.
12. Mine is the same. Just to note if you are thinking of dropping one of Kiogon's harnesses in then I would recommend going with the mini pots as the large ones one are very tight indeed on one side.
13. I use mine quite a lot in both bands no real issue as you can play a fretless in many ways and not all of them require a chorus pedal and/or loads of slides.
14. Yeah it's great. The best bit is that the guitarist understands EQing and space and makes sure not to trample over my space in the audible spectrum. Happy days.
15. I notice Strings Direct do a bunch of Chrome singles in gauges from 032 to 132 in Long Scale. Any use to you?
16.
Flares made a brief comeback so surely there still hope for fretless...
Damn, did I miss this? I have my purple ones with obligatory paisley inserts on standby.
17. I think Scott is 'All thumbs' on here.
