1.
We used to do Back of my Hand by the Jags, great song to play and always well received
A great song indeed.
  2. Hi all For sale is my Sterling By Music Man SB14 bass. This is one of around 1,000 basses made in this colour and dates to 2010 (not 2011 as I had previously written - made in Indonesia). The bass is in excellent overall condition with a couple of light scratches on the back which I will see if I can polish out. A couple of things to mention:

When I got the bass the previous owner had clearly taken a file to the nut in a none too subtle way so the bass now sports a buffalo horn nut (like bone but black - to keep the overall blackness level)
The pickguard had some scratches too so the bass now has a new custom p/g in the same B/W/B scheme as the original one (original one included)
I have just had a pro setup done on the bass including fret leveling and polishing and a brand new set of D'Addario EXL170BT strings.
The necks on these are pretty slim and quite jazz-like. This particular bass weighs in at bang on 9lbs by my scales so quite light for the breed. The body is basswood, and the maple neck has some birdseye content too. The rosewood board has been cleaned and oiled as well. The electronics are 3EQ plus pickup coil switching to give three options: Parallel for the classic Stingray sound; single coil with phantom coil - hum cancelling; and series options. The bass comes with an SBMM gig bag; probably the best gig bag I've come across with nice soft and thick padding. These SBMM basses get a lot of love on t'interweb. Thanks for looking.
  3. We do The Sensational Alex Harvey Band version of Delilah which is good fun.
  4. Knebworth to see Led Zep.
  5. I have a VS and a TT both from the newer California II range. As far as I can see the bodies and necks are very similar.
  6. For sale is this P bass pickup from my Sandberg VS bass. In 'like new' condition. Branded with the Sandberg 4 dots, but looking and awful lot like a Delano pickup. £35 posted UK mainland. Any questions please ask.
  7. Contratulations and good luck to you both.
  8.
Seen it on gumtree, what are your concerns?

Only Japanese Squiers were Silver Series. They have Silvers Series written on the headstock. This one doesn't. This one has a grounding strip. Only the Japanese Squiers had the grounding strip going from the bridge to the back pickup, like the Jazz basses in the early 60s did. The Korean models didn't (as far as I am aware). The serial number, which starts E10, shows that the neck was manufactured in Korea, in 1987/88
Pretty much this!
  9. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-Jazz-Bass-Silver-Series-early-korean-s-n-E10-Seymour-Duncan-pickups-/182633501464? Doesn't look right in many ways. I have contacted the seller with my concerns but not sure how to report to eBay.
  10. Deposit paid...
  11. This looks pretty tasty for less than £1k... https://www.thomann.de/gb/sandberg_california_ii_tt4_rw_ts.htm
  12. If we get the right answer do we get points, and do points mean prizes?

Similarly, I just purchase a Nordstrand P type pickup. It all arrived with zero hassle; plenty of PMs; nothing to be concerned about here folks. Solid BCer.
  14. Serial abuser of the EXL170BT sets here. Major fanboy.
  15.
I love my passive California TT... it's got the thermo and vibration treatment and plays smoOoth! Sonds killer through a GK 700RB MKII... https://www.youtube....h?v=N7Mdi89ncAM
I'd really like to hear this back to back with a standard one to see what the difference is. I am fortunate to own a vintage Fender P bass and there is definitely a difference which I had always assumed was due to the vintage electronics more than the aging timbers. It's all weird magic though.
  16. Maybe keep a weather eye on the f/s bits of this very forum?
  17. Nice; I presume the cream/white p/up covers are in case you put it down in a dark room?
  18.
If you're after vintage, rather than modern, then I'd be tempted to try those from jlguitars.com Jess Loureiro winds the pups by hand using the old methods and materials. I've got some on order right now. So I'm about to find out what they sound like. I've tried his 51 Precision pup and that was great. http://jlguitars.eu/...r=cms&id_lang=4
I've just bought one of the P Bass Classis pickups. Looking forward to trying it out, it's this one: http://jlguitars.eu/shop/index.php?id_product=11&controller=product&id_lang=4
  19. Looks great congratulations. I tried a couple of Paul's basses at the LBGS a couple of years ago and really liked them.
  20.
The tascams are great, but sound quality degrades very quickly when slowed down, and they're unreliable, my first one conked out completely, the batteries stopped holding charge after a while, and they are expensive, light also failed, and jack failed. Tthe second one I bought, the jack doesnt work, and the effects are stuck on, and the tuners not great on the b string, - its a bit better on the others. I use transcribe on pc now - the sound quality is much better.
By contrast mine has been going strong for about 7 years now.
  21. I have one of the ones where you load on MP3s rather than play a CD. I've used it 3 or 4 times a week (with headphones0) for practice and leaning new stuff. I will be devastated when it eventually dies. Pick one up pre-loved if you can find one, they are really good for what you descibe imho.
  22.
That just gives you (and me) time to save up for the big day. The size of deposit seems to depend on the dealer.
I paid around 15% as the deposit.
  23.
The Sandberg costs less in the UK. You will have to wait a few months for a bespoke build but you can also specify the configuration and finish you want.
I ordered mine via Classic & Cool, got a good price and the bass arrived around 6-7 weeks earlier than promised at the time of the order. Gotta love that.
