1. Damn, missed this one :-(
2. This will be the most useless post in this thread. A few years ago I bumped into the drummer from a prog band who had moved into the electronics industry. Here's the useless bit, I'm sorry but I'm struggling to remember his name or the band's. Anyway he was showing round the factory and he opened a door in the office suite to a room filled with the biggest drum kit I've ever seen, all mic'ed up and used for him to record stuff for hs own pleasure. He did say nothing would tempt him back/
3.
I need a Precision. Looking for, American Special Precision
I hope this wasn't my fault?
4. I have a slelction of ACGs, and you are most welcome to come over and try them as we can't be too far apart geographically. I hope they end up on your shortlist as I feel that Alan is superb at the whole customer experience thing.
5.
I have a smooth hound and run in direct on most but on one bass I clip it to the strap and use and adapter and a patch lead which works brilliantly. The adapter was £2 and is listed in the accessories on the smooth hound website. It is a brilliant bit of kit and does make life much nicer without cables getting in the way all the time.
This is what I do all the time; makes changing your bass relatively easy too.
6. Danesh has just bought an ACG from me. What a super guy, very easy to deal with and prompt in comms., payment etc. A real credit to the forum. Do not hesitate to deal with him even though he's in foreign parts!
7.
Hoping to make this as fairly sure I'm around that weekend PS: don't really have any interesting gear to bring, but happy to bore the pants off people about music production or run a short "idiot's guide to home recording", given that I myself am a qualified idiot.
I'm personally very interested in that as a state-registered techno-muppet.
8.
I prefer active. Less noise, more flexible - funny when people say there's too many knobs and it's confusing... if you can work a toaster you can learn the controls on a bass guitar
Toasters are the work of the devil.
9. I think I have all flavours, active, passive and active/passive switchable. Don't use effects though. I have no strong preference but in terms of live work as I use a wireless system I generally prefer active basses as I can stand out in the room and tweak a couple of things to seek the best sound and it saves walking back and forth to the head to change settings. My amp is run with everything flat with the honourable exception of a tiny bit of mid boost. That having been said I've played the last few gigs with the bass into a DI box into the desk and then fed back through the on-stage monitors. When a band is in full tilt I think it's pretty hard to tell what the bass is so for me it's just the convenience of having a preamp a few inches from my hand rather than several yards away . I very rarely change settings post sound-check.
10. Thanks all, very helpful.
11. So many good ones. How about Pictures Of Home from the earlier catalogue or Anya for a few years later.
12. I've just pickup up an Amercian Special P. Very nice bass, a nadge over 8lbs, fantastic neck (with satin finish) and dead easy to 'upgrade' too.
13. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but can anyone help with a tab or notation for this tune please? Thanks Alain
14. Not very pretty to my untrained eye.

MYBASS feedback

Just bought some strings from Pete, very easy to deal with many thanks. Highly recommended
16.
I have an Affinity P-Bass; it cost me £50. It's now got a Mighty Mite neck on it (that cost me £50 too!). And a Hipshot D-tuner (yep, another £50). And a Badass bridge (I've had it many years, but it probably cost £50). And a Shadow pickup (that was less than £50). I'll probably replace the body at some point, and then it'll be de-Squired. I will then have all the Squier bits to put together and start again though... or I might sell it (for £50!).
Sounds like Trigger's bass rather than his broom
17. Yes I thought it was very thoughtfully done. Have not deleted it...
18.
I recently put a Seymour Duncan quarter pounder in a mex Precision, sounds much better than it did with the standard pick up, but not as good as a US Standard.
Yeah, I found the SPB-3 a bit too aggressive sounding.
19.
Beautiful plumage!
But not as nice as the African Blue.
20. I was looking at these and contacted one of the shops. The say the supply came from Fender. Here's a pic of the s/n that they sent me: The prefix and everything looks right, but I can't find a reliable source to say whether the first two digits refer to the yob as the shop is saying it's 2015 (which I thought was after they were discontinued). Can anybody shed any further light?
21. The now standard how heavy is the bass please? Also can you advise whether the neck has a satin or gloss finish please?
22. Now sold on Evilbay for more money?!
23. Thanks, it is very pretty. I'm sorry but I don't have any sound clips or the means to record them at the moment.
24. All PMs responded to. Thanks for all the interest folks.
