1. My fretless basses have the dots where the frets would be. I thought this was the norm for fretless basses?
2. Some mild compression also works well with fretless. Personally I very rarely use a chorus pedal.
3. Try Hundred Seventy Split too, Leo Lyons on bass (ex of 10 years after). We do a few Bonamassa covers that would be 'heavier', in particular have a listen to Dust Bowl.
4. Trickier than I thought, my instant reaction was a 1960 YOB stack knob Jazz in 3TSB. On further reflection I think it might actually be to commission the very nicest passive bass I could think of; probably with two single coil pickups...as for the rest....
5. Just acquired Rich's Ampeg. Another very straightforward deal from a most trusted BCer. Many thanks.
6. Hi team I am looking for a suitable detuner I could fit, any ideas please as what seems to be out there apeears not to fit. Pic follows: Thanks
7. Basically I was originally offered a full refund of the cost, which then became an offer to cover the postage of me returning the pickguard. I recognise that Warwick have put some effort into making me a new pickguard - by which I mean they have drilled 6 holes in a standard blank according to the template I sent them. In an attempt to bring this to a conclusion I offered them a 50/50 split on the cost. This was refused and the offer of the postage cost only was made. It has however taken 4 months and counting to get to this point.
8.
47, 214 per manufacturer
I'm right in the ball park for ACGs then .....unless that is you don't mean either 47 or 214.
9. Thanks, I think No.1 son does Twittery things so will have a word with him.
10. Still having to prompt Warwick to respond to emails. I think I'm going to need to take this onto the social media as I'm getting a bit fed up with them. Can somebody offer some advice on the best way to do this as I'm really not well informed on social media. Thanks.
11. I think I need to go and lie down in a dark room with a dam flannel on my head after that Karl. I think I'll just skulk around Hindley looking a bit menacing then. Is it the same bass currently on Evilbay?
12.
Thanks gents, really appreciated. I might not be quite as dimwitted and opinionated as somebody thinks
Just let me know what said that about you Karl and I'll have a little word in his shell-like (with my baseball bat). Shame about the dings on the neck though.
13. Exploratory email sent (and response received).
14.
Snow by Spock's Beard is worth listening to. It's a bit of an overdone story (Young malcontent, cast away by family, takes drugs, befriends a prostitute, becomes famous, nearly dies, finds God) and I think they've padded it out a bit to fit on two discs, but the production is good, the band sound great and it's a bit of fun. Love Dave Meros by the way. He really does have a distinct style that I've only noticed recently after not having listened to Spock's Beard for a year or two.
Good choice and a great album. In a similar vein can I offer for consideration IQ's Subterranea.
15. Does anyone know if a 24 fret Jake is do-able?
16.
Alain, I have a BB425x and you could always have a go with it.
And thanks to you too young Vince. Are we not due for a catch-up soon, and what do I need to know about Reflections?
17. Thanks all, useful info. I'll give your most kind offer some serious thought MrBB. What are the neck dive issues like on these basses? Are the necks firmly in P bass territory for general lack of slimness?
18. Really after something in the P bass line or possibly a P/J rather than an MM style bass. WHat about ESP basses e.g. a B55?
19. I'm in Chorley, not too far away.
20.
steven Wilson - hand cannot erase
I was going to say that, doh!
21. What, in the view of the BC illuminati, would be a good way to sample a 5-string P bass for not too much money in case the concept didn't work for me and it would need to be moved on at minimal loss? Say up to £300 is possible.
22. Other than preferring the earlier output I have no issues with U2. On the whole nobody is obliged to listen to or like anything in particular. As to how AC manages to accumulate so many sig basses is a mystery though. Rather like the look of the recent Warwick Streamer P bass though.
23. Recently acquired this Farida and upgraded with Fender US piclups, a Kiogon harness and a new custom pickguard.
