1. Also The Creamery in Manchester, offer this service (don't know where you are in the world). http://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/
2. Just sold Kev my Nate Mendel P and picked up a rather nice Farida P in part exchange. Top bloke to deal with, purveyor of fine coffee and owner of a lovely hound to boot. Many thanks Kev.
3. Jack refinished an old Antoria Jazz for me and did it very well too.
4. Nice to meet you Andy, and thanks for the gig bag. Just what the doctor ordered. Dead easy transaction, plenty of comms., just like it should be. Deal in confidence BCers, Andy is a credit to BC.
5. This is a very tragic story of what can happen or indeed could happen to any of us. Nevertheless I guess congratulations are in order.
6. Looking very nice there, congratulations.
7. I tend to plug mine into the 'active' input (it's a switch setting for my amp). No good reason other than habbit I guess as most of my basses have preamps installed.
8. So hard to say, but as well as most of the above I'd say Station to Station, Wild Is The WInd, Five Years and Cat People.
9. Devasted, I grew up listening to Bowie.
10. Money no object, I'd definitely buy one. Although current P bass squeeze is a slightly more humble Nate Mendel.
11. And mine too! It's one of the very early ones without the weird routing under the p/guard.
12. Cheers Karl, good thought. He did some great work on an old Spector for me.
13. My best rig is without doubt my current set up so doesn't qualify for this thread.
14. If money was no object, would you by the Fodera or a vintage Fender (I would image it would probably be early 70s for this money)?
15. Damn , even better value. Been eyeing your OW bass up Mr WoT
16. Is there customs duty / VAT / any other taxes that need to be considered for these basses. Poland are in the EU are they not?
17. I think it looks great. There are some nice ACGs with holly tops too, it's like a natural vintage white.
18.
I think I am gonna try and keep mine as minimal a possible, will try and keep a max of 2 basses
Traitor
19.
Seriously considering one of these myself. How are you finding it?
It's probably the best J Type bass I've played (non custom-made that it). Mine weighs around 7.5lbs and has a lovely flame maple neck. The pickups are great (passive) and the V/V/T/T set up allows plenty of variation and a nice snap with everything full on. I'm now contemplating replacing one of the volume with a pickup selector switch for even more variety. I really rate this bass and I can't see it going anywhere. I've gigged it several times and pretty much always have it with me as back up when I take my ACGs out to play.
20. Things moving apace now. Muppet here failed to notice the protective film on the p/g, well it was very neat So my apologies to Warwick for that completely unreasonable accusation. Mea maxima culpa. The holes definitely didn't come close to matching though, but it seems like a solution is fast being organised which is great.
21. Just acquired a Nate Mendel P from Chris. Great transaction, everything exactly as described, really smooth and Chris is a top bloke to deal with. Many thanks.
22. Ha, of course; apologies for not remembering. Too many blows about the head...
23. My ACGs have J East electronics in them and very good they are too. You can buy a filter preamp from Alan at ACG but the are not so cheap, however they will get you to that sound. They do pop up on here occasionally too. I actually have an ACG Jazz type bass with the simpler version of the filter preamp call an SEQ: http://www.acguitars...200ss-j-type-4/ Have a look on the Design dropdown and click the electronic link for more info.
24. Is that the photos or the player Merton? I've never let my lack of ability stand in the way of acquiring ACGs. I still want to find a way to try out your ACG 'P' at some point. Lovely looking bass there Kev
