1. Have just found a sound clip of the bass too. If anybody is interested please PM me you're email address and I'll send it over.
2. No, on the basis that the Barefaced cabs I run can cope with my amp at full chat and still have plenty in the tank. As it I rarely run the amp at more than about 60% on the master volume so I suspect the cabs are just cruising. Plus if one pops I still have the other that could do just fine on its on.
3. Interesting take jazzyvee. Did you keep the treble stack for each pickup too?
4.
I can't play a P bass to save my life. I hear someone else playing one and it sounds fantastic. Then I pick it up and it's just rubbish.
This happens with all my basses.
5. Done. Is it a cheap bass tech.?
6.
That wasn't the Doobs.... it was Tower Of Power....
Bollocks, old age and senility kicking in. Good tune nevertheless
7. Of all the filter preamps I'd say the EQ02 is the hardest to sort out on a two pickup bass as you have to accommodate the output from both pickups and the blend control setting with just one filter stack and the treble stack. I much prefer the ones with a filter stack per pickup (plus the treble stack and preferably the active/passive tone control too) so you can can get each one to sound like you want it and then just use the blend to your heart's content. They are a bit marmite I agree, but if you invest the time they are great. Also the SEQ is quite nifty, it's a bit like having a really good tone control for each pickup and a volume/blend stack. Still has multiple adjustment if you want them but very intuitive. EQ02 is fine for single pickup basses though.
8. Interesting comment re the Precision. I used to be in that camp until I stumbled across a Farida P bass (shameful copy - just in case he's reading this). Skinny neck like a jazz and a slightly odd shaped lower horn but really nice to play, I now 'get' the whole P bass thing.
9. Once more unto the breech.
10. I'm another in the Ricky camp sadly. They were my 'dream' bass and having saved up for a year to buy one I found it to be not a great experience. I persevered for a year then sold it on. On the other hand I love Jazz and Jazz-type basses.

Copies
improvement?
Quite so, but then I think some of the 'copies' also improved the breed.

What about the basses Leo designed at G&L. Is their version of a J and P a copy as it was himself who designed it in the first place?
13. They're all Boys Nights Out. I would also recommend spelling and grammar tuition on free evenings.
14.
You need a long fuse, patience, the ability to be messed around a fair bit and generally a professional attitude. Wide musical knowledge / appreciation essential, as is the ability to compromise on gear / setting up space and generally remaining 'flexible'. If you can do this, you should enjoy!

That's me f***ed then.
Yup, me too
15. I'd say only if required by the person that owns the rooms. We had to have our whole set up tested to play in a hotel.
16. Possibly, as I could swap the gig bag for one of my semi-rigid type cases. Where to in particular?
17. Nostalgia isn't as good as it used to be That being said, I certainly would like to have been playing bass for 40 years using the same [insert the name of your preferred bass here] so that it looked suitable worn in. Sadly as I've been playing only for around 8 years, and am badly afflicted by GAS at times, this has not been possible. As such I have an older bass that somebody has very kindly worn in for me. I don't perceive it sounds any better or worse than its modern counterparts though. It has a nice feel to it but I guess a lot of this is in the mind of the player, maybe subconsciously I play it slightly differently too.
18. Yeah great band the Doobies. I remember one of my mates had school brought in a Doobies album one day and we listened to it solidly for ages; must have been c.1977 or so. Don't Change Horses was on the album as I recall. Current band do a cover of China Grove.
19. Courageous post. Well done and hang in there.
20. I'm in Chorley, the other side of Manchester. My son was at Uni in Nottingham, it used to take us a little over two hours by car, but happy to meet you somewhere convenient.
21. For sale/trade my Warwick Streamer CV Natural Ash This is a German built bass from May 2015 so less than a year old. It is in excellent condition and is a really flexible, passive super jazz type bass. The neck is really smooth and comfortable to play, feeling maybe a little slimmer than the other Jazz in my possession. It also has a beautiful flame finish not to mention a scarf joint for the headstock. The bass weights a little under 8lbs by my bathroom scales, so comfortable to play too. The bass comes with Warwick Rockbag. This has a tear near one end of the handle but safe enough and well padded. Truss rod tool and Allen keys are also present as well as the strap ends of the Warwick Straplocks that are fitted to the bass. There is also the added bonus of a Warwick custom made black/white/black pick guard that I commissioned as I prefer it to the standard fit cream/black/cream item. Here are the specs from the Warwick website. Maple neck and a rosewood board; it will never catch on: German Pro Series Streamer CV 4 Warwick machine heads Just-A-Nut III Flamed Maple neck Rosewood fingerboard Fluorescent Side Dots Fingerboard Radius: 9.5 " Scale length: 34" 21 Jumbo Nickel-silver frets (width: 2,9mm/ height: 1,3mm) Frets: IFT - Invisible Fretwork Technology Body wood: 2pcs Swamp Ash Passive MEC J/J Alnico 5 pickups These basses are around £1,400 new, so grab yourself a bargain at half price. Happy to ship but courier will be at your cost and risk. I will also jump in a car to meet up somewhere within a couple of hours from here (say 100 mile radius). Sale preferred but happy to look at trades. Basses of interest are likely to be 4-string fretted instruments; not too heavy and be quite jazz like in their nature; cash either way.
22. Just purchased a bass from Kert. Really top guy to deal with, very easy transaction and he went out of his way to help with courier arrangements. Deal in confidence fellow BCers.
23. Freddy just bought some pickups from me. A pleasure to deal with and highly recommended, one of the good guys that make BC what it is.
24. If it's any help my Farida P bass weighs in at under 4kgs. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:211856]
