1. My preferred roundwound string. I have used them on my fretted basses for a year or two now and currently instlled on 4 basses. I like the feel and the really piano like tones.
2. That's iritating, gigging with Slyder on Friday in Leyland so going to miss NWR.
3. New lightly aged Montreux tort PG landed today. Very pleased with it and slotted straight on to the bass with minimum fuss. This one is a bit darker than the one on my RW Jazz but looks really nice in the flesh, the pic doesn't really do it justice (phone pic and general lack of operator talent). 4. I recently fessed up to owning six basses, althought there is still one undeclared fretless bass that will need to be accounted for as part of some highly complex multinational trade/sale deal involving travel to foreign parts like Wigan and maybe as far as Yorkshire.
5.
yes it is, though i have addressed that problem now and done the deed and am already in the i want it now phase
Good man
6. My tutor has Di Marzios in all his Jazz type basses. They are 4-strings though but I believe it's a straight swap. There are probably some mechanical drawings on their website.
7.
i have the opposite problem, i cant bring myself to buy one even though ive had the green light from the boss.
That’s just weird
8. Fairly sure that Mr ACG had no previous wood-working experience. Could be wrong though; according to Mrs ead I usually am.
9. Yeah, just hoping something hits my door mat tbh. Although the emails from the company seem in order and there is courier tracking info too so fingers crossed....will do pics when it all happens of course.
10.
It's one of these. They do aged ones too but they're quite a bit more expensive: https://m.thomann.de...arch=1435669588
Just scored an antique Montreux 62 J plate for €63 plus P&P from Emma-musique in France Should work out around £55 delivered.

Very nice Tom, loving the look of it and hopefully will tick all the boxes for you.
12. Nice. I'm going to be looking for a similar thing for my CIJ 62RI Jazz also in Daphne Blue, will check out the Thomann website. Anywhere else I should look?
13. Thanks boys, will look into it. I have the original Pitchblack so don't know how I missed that!
14. I've only ever played some ACGs, an SeiBass and an Eve bass so probably not qualified to make that call given the number of quality luthiers out there. But I suspect that an Uber spec ACG would be pretty hard to beat on quality and value.
15. Just traded a Sandberg for Rich's CIJ Jazz bass. Rich was great to deal with as has been said many times, ended up meeting in Sheffield to swap basses and have a good chat. Thanks very much Rich, you're a star.
16.
Apart from in consumer contracts, where there are certain provisions implied into the contract by law and which cannot be excluded - these are your 'statutory rights' and broadly speaking any term that purports to exclude the vendor's liability in this way is likely to be an unfair contract term.
Good point, I had my commercial hat on there I think!
17. Super good band. Saw them in Preston a couple of years ago and left the show thinking they were going to be massive, and how glad I was to have seen them in a nice small venue.
18. Deeply tragic; Close to the Edge was the first LP I ever bought. Goodness know how many Yes gigs I've been to.
19. Generally with Ts and Cs, the last bit of paper wins. I've bought an amount of stuff from Drew, he is an absolutely upright person. Risk is clearly pointed out to buyers so you know where you stand. Drew will bend over backwards to help in my experience.
20. I think this is my 3rd visit to John. Another excellent piece of kit for an incoming Jazz bass. As ever superb attention to detail and advice, well packed and promptly delivered. What's not to like; a top banana is Mr KiOgon.
21. My fretless Iona is very pleasant I must say.
22.
Ah well. Unfollowed.
............................This, life it too short.
23. Forgot to say that I find very light compression works very well with a fretless bass too. I've a Diamond BCP which seems to work realy nicely and is a nice change from a chorus pedal.
