1.
Another track with members of the Meters and Lowell George, this time joined by Simon Philips on drums and, of course, the wonderful and much missed Robert Palmer.
Cracking CD altogether that one with the Meters as his backing band pretty muck.
2. Dan, that video review was very helpful; much better than the manual in fact. The one thing I've not quite got my head around is that with the more 'normal' (for want of a better word) pedals I'm used to they are 'on' or 'off', the Zoom unit seems to be on all the while, is that the case? A bit like a Terminator in fact. I've achieved the first up goal of having a particular effect I wanted that I've ABed with the 'Bypass' chain so I can switch it in and out as required, so many thanks for helping me to do that. Now Dan, where can I find your helpful video review of pension scheme alternatives to cashing in?
3. Thanks boys. NoirBass I bought it my eyes wide open as my tutor was showing it to me at my last lesson. I could see it was quite complex but I rashly assumed the manual would be a bit more explicit with at least a glossary in it.
4. Cheers Dood, I'll certainly look them up.
5. Is there such a thing for the unit? I've tried reading the manual but I'm really none the wiser; I think this is becasue there is an assumed level of knowledge that I just don't have. The pedals I have used hitherto have been simple things with a couple of knobs that do what they say on the tin so something with more complexity I find a bit baffling really. Any help/councelling etc gratefully received.

Just acquired a Zoom pedal from Chris. Promptly posted and packaged to withstand a nuclear strike. Thanks very much indeed, top banana.

Jazz

My Road Worn Jazz now has a sister. A CIJ 62RI with an aftermarket proper cellulose 4-ply tort scratch plate.
8. I set the intonation on mine with a credit card edge. Since muscle memory also plays a significant part along with the Mk1 ears for me personally have the bass set like my fretted basses helps. No need to make things any hader than necessary?
9. The current collection updated.
10. Yup, Alan's PB pickups are awesome. Just keep pacemakers and small animals away from them.
11.
Great article and some lovely gear. Gonna show my wife this later - single sounds like fun!
Me too, if only to prove how modest my collection is and that one more tiny little bass can’t possibly hurt?
12. Acquired a Detuner from Bryan. Perfect gent, fastest despatch in the west and a real gent. Many thanks.
13. Nice one Mr Eude, finally you have acquired a bass (albeit a bit shrunken with the correct number of strings). Clearly with one more bun in the oven I will need to keep my clear lead of 1 x ACG by ordering another. Now where did I put that blank spec sheet....
14. Congrats Woody and welcome to the club.
15.
And that's how two or three individuals derail a really good thread, and turn it into a mud slinging contest... Nice one chaps...
+1 I thought I was on the wrong forum for a while.
16. I play in a blues band, but we do throw in some 60s stuff too. Top of my head the set list is something like: Django/Just Got Paid/Cocaine We Gotta Get Outta This Place Black Magic Woman Need Your Love Tonight High Heel Sneakers The Thrill Is Gone My Babe Somebody Ride The River Dust Bowl Rock Me Baby All Or Nothing Route 66 Mustang Sally Before You Accuse Me Feel Like Making Love Walking By Myself Bad Love Saw Her Standing There Lucille China Grove When You Walk In The Room I Feel Fine
17. Not a song, but a moment in a song. And more hair on back of neck than asphyxiation...but in Firth of Fifth by Genesis there is a moment about a third of the way through when Steve Hackett comes in with the main guitar solo...just wonderful (ymmv, imho and other caveats apply).
18. Do any of you kind people have a mechanical drawing please as I want to check I can put one onto a CIJ Fender 62RI Jazz bass. I can't find one on the interweb so fingers crossed...
19. This has just appeared on the ACG website. I know it's over your budget, but represents huge value for money for somebody: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/portfolio/0180-recurve-5/
20. Including trades eleven in total. One in my possession currently.
21. My preferred roundwound string. I have used them on my fretted basses for a year or two now and currently instlled on 4 basses. I like the feel and the really piano like tones.
22. That's iritating, gigging with Slyder on Friday in Leyland so going to miss NWR.
