Nope, they're designed to get that raw edgy jazz bass tone so they're true single coil, but they're VERY quiet unless you've got noisy electronics. I've not had a problem until I bought my current house, I can't even plug in my wife's high end Marantz hifi amp without getting hum there. I'll still be getting SBs in my next ACG though, they sound fantastic! So in summary, not officially noiseless, but VERY quiet
True dat, mine are pretty much silent.

Copying selling format from another post as it seems to me to be a really good layout in terms of presenting the information. The pics are from an earlier post as they are so much better then mine. If you want pics from me to corroberate the quality of the bass I would be happy to oblige. Construction: Body Style - Flamboyant Offset 5-string Fretless Body Wood – Mahogany with a Birdseye Maple top, dark veneer Matching Birdseye Maple headstock head plate and back plate with dark veneers Neck – 7-piece, Flamed Maple and Purpleheart (neck through body construction) Fingerboard – Ebony with quarter lines High mass bridge with adjustable string spacing Scale length - 34" Options fitted: Blue side LEDs Strap button behind top horn Quarter-lined finger board Gold hardware Dunlop Dual Design strap-locks fitted (original Schaller strap-locks included) Carbon fibre rods in neck Finish: Natural gloss finish; this shows off the Birdseye Maple really nicely. Electronics: Two Nordstrand Fatstacks into an 18v Schack parametric 3-band EQ system. Both the battery compartment and electronics cavity covers are made from matching mahogany. The controls are: Volume, pickup pan, treble boost/cut, mid boost/cut and bass boost/cut. A useful feature of this preamp is that the center frequency points can be set via DIL switches for all 3 bands. I have the schematics for all the settings. The bass has blue LEDs running down the side of the neck, not something I particularly look for in an instrument but a nice touch. The LEDs are powered by a separate battery and are illuminated by pulling the volume control knob. History: The bass was made in 2007 and I acquired the bass in a trade for my Dingwall AB1 a short while ago. This is undoubtedly a high quality instrument with a gorgeous slim neck and really flexible electronics package. Everything is original and in excellent working order. The neck is nice and straight and having made a minor adjustment to the action I know that the truss rod works well. The electronics package is really flexible and having played around with the settings extensively I can also confirm that this in fine fettle. The action is set quite low action, but there is scope to go lower still if that’s your preference. Bar a little unavoidable string wear on the fingerboard, the bass is in A1 condition. I cannot find any obvious dings or blemishes so the bass has been very well looked after. Weight/ergonomics: Pretty lightweight for a 5er at 8.5lbs according to my bathroom scales, the bass balances well on the strap and is very comfy to play. The neck is fantastic, slim and very comfortable to move around on. Neck-through construction allows easy access to the dusty end of the ‘board. There are two strap lock buttons on the bridge end of the body that allow further adjustability. Sound: VERY versatile with the comprehensive electronic package. You can get an extremely wide range of tones with the EQ and balance controls. Strings: Currently strung BEADG with D’Addario Chrome flat-wound singles; I chose the gauges for balanced string tension (40/55/75/100/132). The strings are around 6 months old so barely played-in in flat-wound terms. The base came to me strung EADGC with round wound string that are included in the sale. Case/bag: The bass comes with a Warwick hard case. Sale price and collection/delivery options: £1,500 collected from my house in Chorley (near M6/M62/M65). To buy a similar bass new today would cost around £3,000, so I hope that you feel the price offers excellent value and is based on a realistic assessment of the market for second-hand fretless basses. I am also happy to meet up or deliver within a reasonable range; please PM me to discuss possibilities. Delivery to your door using UPS or similar can be organised (at cost), although I would by far prefer to arrange personal delivery/exchange if at all possible given the quality of the instrument. Trade value: £1,700; this was what was agreed between us when I traded my Dingwall AB1 for the Sei. Why am I selling? This is a beautifully built and very flexible fretless bass. There are not many around, and Seis enjoy a loyal following. However there is a new fretless custom bass incoming and after a lot of contemplation I decided that this was the bass that has to go to avoid duplication of function and purpose. Trade/part exchange options: Although a cash sale is my objective, I am open to trade offers, but please note that I can only consider trades with cash my way. Trade-wise, I'd consider a quality 4-string fretless bass or possible an oldish Fender P or J bass. My feedback: Please see the links in my sig. below. Thanks for your interest. If you need any more pictures or any more details please drop me a PM and I’ll do my best to give you a comprehensive response.

I use these in the gym. They have a nice secure fit and are very good quality (as most Grado phones are). Not silly money either.
Probably not much help, but I have a Kia C'eed SW - the estate - and a Hiscox case fits easily in the cavernous boot. I LOVE that car.
Just bought one myself on Saturday, but yet to try gear in it. Took the golf clubs with me a few weeks back when I ordered it as somewhat easier to get in and out of a dealership.
Hi i saw them at Ilminster. The bass player on this tour is Alan Thompson ex-from John Martyn. I thought he played very well as it was only his second gig with Martin. I was talking to him during the break and he said he had signed up for the whole tour, I presume he was at the gig you were at, too?
Yes he was playing in the band. Very good he was too, nice G&L 5-string.

Thread resurrection time. Caught the band in Bolton last night. Really excellent show. Some old blues (Robert Johnston), some old Tull, a few covers including Porcupine Tree's Blackest Eyes and a rocky version of Eleanor Righby. Great evening.

I think Eude can give you some guidance on the 6-string thing as he plays shorter scale ACGs. I only have 34" scale 4-stringers that you're welcome to try if you like. I have an Sei 5 fretless with a 34" scale B if that's any help.

On it's way to Ireland (posted yesterday) so hopefully landing imminently...

I showed this thread to the ever patient Mrs ead last night. It was met with what can only be described as a 'frosty reception'. Thankfully she wasn't holding anything sharp at the time.

I'd like to have another 24 hours with it for some further testing & experimentation and then I'll get it in the post over to Ireland on Wednesday.

OK, I've now been playing with the strap for a few hours using a few different basses. There is no doubt in my mind that with a few minor tweaks the strap will be as advertised. I think that having now had it on my shoulder for a while the original estimate of 1" off the width over the shoulder is spot on plus the fix to ensure full contact across the back. I can definitely confirm that there was no slippage at all. Quality of maufacture is excellent and I'll say right now that I'll be on the client list when the design is finalised. Great work Karl. Next question; with all that lovely expanse of leather can things be done with it Maybe embossing with custom designs or something more adventurous...

Well the beastie has landed. Briefly unpacked and tried on then enlisted Mrs ead as photographer (fee still under negotiation, but looking likely to be at least one large gin & tonic). First impressions are a lovely feel to both the leather and the suede. I had to adjust for length and the poppers seem to work well, for those who have not seen the strap this trial one has three poppers engaged at any one time (presumably unless you go to extremes). Feels safe. Definitely very comfortable. The heaviest bass I own is the Sei Flamboyant 5er at a little under 8 1/2 lbs - so not very heavy really. It has the strap button behind the upper horn of the bass which works well enough with the strap set for more normal buttons, but having tried the new strap without the twist my next job is reversing the straplocks on that end of the Levy's strap!. I should say for the purposes of fair comparison I am around 6'3" and am reasonable broad in the shoulder from 30 years of rugby. Therefore the fit around the neck area felt ok. Being picky I could maybe loose 1cm or so in width, maybe a bit more. There is the same gap where some contact is lost across my back. I can only imagine how nice it would be with 100% contact and load bearing. For comparion I took a couple of pics of my Levy's strap which is the current favourite here in ead towers. I am now going to have a good practice to check for slippage etc and will report back later on as to how it all went plus any final thoughts. Edit. Don't know why the orientation of the images is weird, they are fine on the laptop.
