Used to have one of the original P/J Spector Legends with the 3-band EQ. I thought it a nice bass and occasionally wonder where it is. Last seen on BC iirc.

According to Mrs ead I am always wrong, therefore my opinions should be ignored or ridiculed.

OK fellow ACG lovers, new bass commissioned to replace the departed Dirty Ash one on the left. The spec will be: Recurve 4 Custom spec Body: Native Ash top on Alder body - Minimum lacquer finish Neck: 3-piece Wenge (however you pronounce it) Board: Wenge, fretted (still don't know how to pronounce it) Pickups: 2 x RFB Electronics: ACG EQ03 5k Other bits: Detuner on E string, black hardware, luminlay position dots on the side, ACG custom bridge I did casually mention to Mrs ead that having sold a bass a replacement might be sought, but Mum's the word people

The other place to drop into would be the Manchester Bass Lounge as Drew has basses by Alpha, Everson, and more ACGs (coming soon I think) as well as more standard fare so a good place to play a lot of different basses. Loads of excellent advice here, specially about being sure what you want. I spent several months thinking carefully about what I wanted and spoke to two or three builders before settling on ACG (no regrets whatsoeverby the way, and have since been back for a few more of them). It's definitely important to have a good relationship and trust in your luthier of choice.
First time I have been accused of having all my body shapes to Jazz like, normally I get asked to do something more traditional .
As a serial abuser of ACG J Type bodies I would observe that they are an excellent compromise between just making a Fender with a different logo and something too outlandish for the more conservative player. Plus they have excellent access to all 24 frets, are light and comfortable, and well balanced on the knee. In Graft spec they are also great value for money.

I'm in Lancs, so if you want to try my ACGs you are more than welcome to pop up.

Having a bit of a clear out and forgotten that I had acquired these for a 5er that I no longer own. As I'm sticking to 4s now not required any longer. They are brand new and still have the cellophane wrapping on. Here is the link to the website about them: http://www.deanmarkl...lix-hd-nps-bass Sold, many thanks.

Sold an ACG bass to cana.dan. Very easy transaction, plenty of PMs, everything as organised and a really nice person to boot. Highly recommended.

It's entirely possible there may be a very sad farewell and an addition to the family (which sort of grew by one when I wasn't watching)...

Coldplay album review. (Possibly a bit harsh!! :) )
ead replied to fretmeister's topic in General Discussion
Is it still cool to hate Coldplay? I thought that ther might be another target for reviewers' opprobium by now. -
Yeah I enjoyed St Vincent. Kasabian a bit less so. Didn't quite get the rolling down the stairs thing at the end though?
My parents have a thing (I don't even know what to call this art-form/discipline) that is made from various woods, using the colour of each wood for a different part of a landscape scene. It was the first thing to spring into my mind when I saw the Corts. The design is growing on me!
I think that is called Marquetry.
Depending on where you want to go, you might be able to get on one of those courses with maybe a B and two C's , or through the clearing system if your A levels results have been a bit disappointing. I hope that helps.
My 'A' level results in 1978 were not too shabby and neither was my Electronics degree thanks.

Are the body tops all different because of the mountain range effect?
If I think about it , Metallica fans can't be that thick, not least of all because you need at least an A and two B's at A Level to do electronic engineering at most universities nowadays.
Well that puts my academic struggles into perspective, thanks for that. Back to the self harming...ho hum...
I don't know but I love that Aloe Blacc's real name is Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III
Strong candidate, and gets my vote, for Fact Of The Day.
Yes, the audience tend to be the kind of people who believe that Britpop was a significant historical event and " Run " by Snow Patrol is indeed The Soundtrack of Their Lives, just like the advertised-on -t.v indie compilation album tells them it should be.
I'm more of a Chasing Cars social mistfit and general retard myself. Not really, but I think that was a tad harsh. If everybody liked the same thing what a dull world we would inhabit.

Saw the Manchester gig last night. What a great evening, Close to the Edge was the first LP I ever bought, so good to hear the whole thing live. The rendering of Awaken made it for me though, and GFTO is not one of my top 3 Yes albums either.
Alain, in the interest of subterfuge, get it delivered to me , ring me when the coast is clear and I will bring it round Oh, and the following is the kind of thing in 1960 (not mine sadly) http://basschat.co.u...om-shop-60-nos/
Thanks Karl, not doubt you'll treasure it as one of your own, and keep it safe in a temperature comtrolled and secure environment and not even glance at it sideways?

OK this thread is going to have to stop. It's bad for my wallet and therefore my personal safety if Mrs ead finds out I'm reading this kind of material on the interweb. However.....should I wish to (misguidedly) enquire about a Limelight version of a YOB bass as I cannot afford a 1960 original, where could information about about what was in production at that time be found? This is all hypothetical of course
Tuning BEAD usually means less tension than EADG because a B string is commonly less tense than a G string.

This is quite true, it's usually the D and A strings with the highest tension.
Depends on your choice of gauge surely? The 'standard' offerings e.g. 45/65/85/105 definitely have this, but if you go for the balanced tensions sets (or just buy the right gauge singles) then this can be engineered out. There is of course then the compliance issue
