1. The SR series do seem like really nice basses. Rediculously good value 'preloved' too.

    NBD Dingwall
how is the neck? can't remember the name for the way the frets are arranged but it always struck me as interesting...easier or just different?
Neck is really nice and smooth (matt/satin finish). Somewhere between a P and a J in terms of shape/size, but very comfortable for me. I took to the fanned fret thing after a couple of hours (due to my talent deficit which didn't allow me to make the transition in seconds/a minute or two). It is a bit odd at first particularly at the extreme ends of the fretboard, but once you get the hang of it, it's really rather good.
  4. Bump for string lengths measured for the avoidance of doubt. Please see original post. Last price reduction Now £20 posted for 4-string set, £30 posted for 5-string set.

    NBD Dingwall

Technically NDBD was on Thusday 17th but it's taken me a day or two to take a few pics. This one used to belong to fellow BCer Flex and replaces the Combustion 5 as I couldn't handle the 5 string thing. It's a cracker. Lovely wenge neck and 'board. 6. Another person looking forward to the CD here.
  7.
And a thing of beauty it is too!
It's very nice indeed in the flesh...

    Feedback for FLEX

Just acquired Pete's Dingwall AB1. Excellent to deal with, answered any queries promptly and the bass was delivered as promised and well packaged. Highly recommended, deal with confidence. Stunning bass to btw, thanks very much.
  9. How about an MM type p/up? If you got one of the 4-wire versions (or is it 5 wires with the earth) you could have a micro switch for series/parallel/single coil.
  10.
Me too it's a head thing, not a talent thing
Let's start a club!
  11.
Took me about five minutes
Yeah, but I'm rubbish on bass
  12. I don't know if this qualifies as nice tort but I quite like it.
  13. Just acquired a tuition book from Martyn. Perfect condition, keen price, great to deal with and makes a top brew.
  14. Enjoy Woody. I hopefully will have my own NDBD tomorrow as I have an incoming Dingwall AB1 4
  15. I have some knowledge of Woodinblack's bass as it was mine until recently. For me it was the 5-string bit that I struggled with just because I have played 4s to this point. That said I have pretty immediately replaced it with a 4-string Dingwall as I really like the fanned fret system. The scale length was never really an issue although I should say I'm 6'3" with a long wingspan so it was never going to be an issue for me. I recognise the 'where do I anchor my right hand' thing Woddy mentioned, however I figured out that what worked for me was to put my thumb on the rounded corner of the neck pickup and as the pickups are slanted too, you get a nice spot to play in below your thumb. I should say that the oft quoted thing is that it takes seconds to get used to was not my experience. A couple of hours practice definitely helps.
  16. Woody just acquired my Dingwall Combustion 5. Super quick payment, plenty of PMs, super bloke to deal with. Highly recommended BCer. Thanks for a very easy transaction.
  17.
It's already been said, get one of these. I've had this about six months now and it's great. Good balance, easy to play (asymmetric neck, zero radius(flat) fretboard) and simple controls. Vol,pickup selector and tone.
Can't speak for the 5ers, but all this applies to ACG four string basses.
  18. Bump for a price drop to £22 posted. That's about 40% less than the new price, grab a bargain
  19. Interesting question. My ACG basses will not be sold as they were my choices. All are played regularly. I do have a 'rental type bass' which is great as I get to try loks of different basses without breaking the bank or being divorced (or worse). I occasionally make a bit of money on a sale and sometimes loose a bit, but it works for me.
  20. My experience limited to three basses between the brands:

Warwick Corvette Std. (2009 MIG) - nice bass but ultimately not that keen on the shape.
Spector Legend 4 (first series with the P/J pickups) - My first 'proper' bass so I have a soft spot for it, somebody on here I think is the current keeper.
SSD (Spector) NS-94 - Bought on here; mid to late 90s instrument when Spector were having issues using the name in the USA
Of the three I think my favourite was the NS-94 for the really creamy tones, the only thing I couldn't get on with was the painted neck. I guess that makes me a Spector man by 2:1 although I have played Mr Bagsieblue's arsenal of Warwicks and he has some lovely basses.
