1. Similar but different, a Warwick neck on a J body. http://manchesterbasslounge.com/?p=3132
2. Rats, misread the title. Hoping to find stuff about pixie bassists.
3. I recently acquired some Sadowsky stacked and single knobs and added a few spares just in case there were any BCers who required them. These are at cost inc. the postage from the USA, so not looking to profit. I have three stacked sets for sale at £35 posted. They are brand new & unsued. Pic from the Sadowsky website: When I work out what to use I may have a couple more Sadowsky knobs for sale.
4. Out of interest where does the Thumpinator work best? Just before the amp seems to do it for me but I've not played extensively with this aspect.
5. They have also played for a number of other artists as their backing band.
6. I have to say that whenever I sought assistance from the BC hive it has been supplied in abundance. I do think the gear in members sigs is a useful indication as to that person's background too though. Having said that it is quite amusing when you do a search on a particular topic and come across a bunch of posts about a bass saying 'it's a keeper' etc. how often the bass in question is no longer in the sig
7.
nice i will deffo add a 55-02 to my list to try out and these ACG's people are talking about not heard this name before but been checking them out I'm quite interested, I'm thinking it might be bait harder though to come across one to try out?
Possibly worth asking Alan at ACG if any owners are in your vicinity, most of us are quite affable . Certainly in London there ar some ACGers.
8. Yup, In Rock for me, but only because a lot of the early Led Zep was very blues infused.
9. I never quite got Rainbow. For me it would be Deep Purple In Rock, or possible the first Sabbath album.
10.
Personally I prefer having separate smartphone and mp3 player. My 30 GB mp3 is full now, so I have been looking at the ipod classics. They're really expensive when you compare them to just putting a huge memory card in a phone though :-(
I also have an iPod Nano mk3 for the gym.
11. As an antidote to iPods, last year I took a deep breath and dived into the smartphone world. I went for an HTC One+ or some such name. Anyway the upside is 64GB solid state memory most of which is free to use. Better than most of them at the time, but that was a whole year ago so I'm guessing things have moved on...
12. My 4-string ACG basses are all asymmetric and I'm a convert. Was a little unsure at first but now definitely in the fold. Don't find a problem swapping around, just feels slightly less comfortable on the C and D type profiles.
13. Nice Legs, Shame About The Face - The Monks (iirc)
14. Heads up for all prog and in particular Genesis fans on here. Our very own (I'll fill in his site name when I can remember it) plays bass for them and I had an absolutely splendid 3 hours of nostalgia last night at their gig in Bacup. Nursery Crime right through to nearly the end of their recording career (Genesis that is). If it's your kind of thing check them out, best Genesis tribute I've heard and I've been to a few.
15. Not on your list, but this will be a pretty special bass...just not sure what the price will be. http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/stock-super-j-type-5/ The ACG Graft range are outstanding value for money too at around £800 for a passive Jazz type bass.
16. Pics maybe a help here? Possibly a Legend 4 Classic?
17. We started out around 50/50. Band policy is to play as much original material as we can, but bearing in mind our audience occasionally want to hear something they know. Our next gig will be pretty much all original material, maybe one cover.
18. Hi Ed I had a Kiogon made stack pot plate for an old Antoria J bass I refurbed. I didn't notice any interaction between the tone pots, but I couldn't say whether fully opened it sounded the same as a single tone pot as it was knackered on the original bass. Can't see why it would make a massive difference. For the record I had different cap values for the bridge and neck pickup circuits. Liked it a lot as a passive set up.
19. My fav Floyd bass line is definitely Time (as on DSOTM).
20. Did anybody get to any of the UK dates last month? I sadly couldn't make it to the local ones.
