1. I struggle to see how it would make a discernable difference on a fretted bass when at the end of the day your fingers are putting pressure on a string to jam it onto a fret. I guess you can feel a bit of the board at each side, maybe more so with the narrower gauge strings. But if you play with a light touch then I guess less so. On a fretless I think it does make a difference in feel. FWIW My two fretted basses have acrylic impregnated maple boards. Dead easy to clean if they get a bit grubby. Look nicer than rosewood for me although YMMV

 3. Thanks for that, technology impaired person here.
 4. You're welcome to try my Dingwall, but it has got 4 knobs and probably 18mm spacing so may not be what you're after at all really
 5. For plebs like me that don't have a smartphone, let alone an iphone could these files be converted to something like a jpeg please?
 6. No idea, but surely it's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it? Just like our very own F/S section
 7. For those that enjoy self abuse, you can get a whole CD of Stairway covers. Although to my mind the crucial omission is the Dolly Parton rendition... 8. TTTwith price drop
 9. Thanks for all the offers so far. Not seen 'the one' yet though so please keep them coming.
 10. Wow, there's a name I've not hear for a bit. Thanks for the memories!
 11. Truly beautiful. I've just had one of those moments when I wish I could find some Talent F/S in the Other Musically Related Items section
 12. I've been in contact with him about it, but we remain a little way apart on price and value
 13. I know, gutted tbh . I guess the ideal for me would be a Combustion 4 if such a beastie existed. All the current 4-string Dingwalls are very pricey though and there don't appear to be any 'pre-loved' ones in my price range.
 14. Had a few interesting offers but nothing has quite yet hit the mark. Still available.type bump.
 15. I saw TS supporting Alice Cooper at the MEN arena maybe 5 years ago. Scary; but Dee is good value as a front man though.
 16. Thanks Peter, responded.
 17. F/T (or F/S): Mint condition Dingwall Combustion 5 This is a 2009 model in absolutely immaculate condition with no scratches, dings or missing finish that has been fully cleaned and a new set of Dingwall strings fitted. I have upgraded the pickups to the improved B Booster type as used in the Combustion II costing £150. The original pickups come with the bass too. SPECIFICATIONS:

Dingwall made in Canada FD3 pickups - (now upgraded to B Booster pickups)
EMG USA BT07 2-band pre-amp,
Dingwall USA strings
Alder body - 3 tone sunburst
Optional Grey Pearloid pickguard (£45 option)
Rosewood Fingerboard – 37" - 34" scale
Bone nut
Banjo frets
NOVAX® FANNED-FRET SYSTEM
Five piece maple neck
Controls - Volume, Volume, Treble, Bass
Weight 3.9kg/8lb 10oz
The bass comes with a decent quality padded gig bag. I acquired the bass firstly to ‘scratch an itch’ regarding the fanned fret system (of which I am now a complete convert ), and secondly to try my hand at a 5-string (rather less successful ). The bass is now for trade for something with 4 strings (or for outright sale). As for trade options it’s probably easier to set a few ground rules and then see what turns up:

Must be a 4-string please
Much prefer a natural finish or a burst
Nothing too heavy, up to about 9lbs or so max
Fretted or fretless
Cash either way is fine although I would probably prefer to trade up rather than down. Thanks for looking and here are the pics.
 18. That's a real shame, it's plain to see that you have invested significant time and energy in the band and I hope (meaning feel sure that you will) find a new project quickly. The music is not my personal cup of tea I'm afraid, but I can see that the band deserve a decent following. If I'd been closer I would be there to support. Best wishes to you all.
 19. The search continues. The Chromes were too heavy / stiff for my liking. If only the TI365s came with a sensible gauge B string...
 20.
As tubeway army may have said: Are trends eclectic?
Just accidentally snorted hot coffee. Not recommended fellow BCers, too many Health & Safety Issues; plus it ****** stings a bit too.
 21. +1 for MBL On the downside, I found out last week just how close by workplace is to Johnny Roadhouse. Damn!
