1. There's a Peavey Zephyr on evilbay as we speak...(not mine I hasten to add).
2. Sorry can't find anything, I thought it was on an old invoice but sadly not.
3. Great job there, looks the business.
4. Probably got a number at home...will check later.
5. Hang on one cotton pickin' minute....
6. I've never really tried one for any length of time, but they do seem to have a hard-core following. The ones that I have seen in the flesh looked well made and sounded pretty good so they must definitely be a contender (at the right price I guess). From my perspective the best value basses I have owned are probably a Peavey Zephyr (£125 for an immaculate neck through bass), and an Antoria Jazz I acquired for £100, although it did get a refinish and a Kiogon wiring harness to replace old slightly knackered one.
7. Live dangerously, try something else I am particularly enjoying the D'Addario balanced tension sets at the moment, nickel so a bit warmer but are still nice and bright and the lower strings have a real piano like quality to them.
8.
http://www.ebay.co.u...ME:L:OC:GB:3160 Arrived today
Nice basses the Zephyrs. I had an NT 4-string until fairly recently and a new Kiogon harness transformed it as the pots were a bit too scratchy when I acquired it. Love the V/T plus V/T set up, like an un-stacked stack-knob jazz bass.
9. Luckily the http://manchesterbasslounge.com/ is very near home
10. Alan at ACG get his ramps made by Williams Guitars, so maybe worth looking them up?
11.
Am I the only person that likes presents to be a surprise?
+1 Now the kids are grown up (about as adult as me, so not very) we are trying out secret santa within the family this year. Cash limit £25. Everyone was getting a bit fed up of being asked what they would like to receive and then trying to look surprised and delighted when they received it, or worse still actually going and buying it yourself for somebody else to wrap up.
12. Bump for change in availability.
13. Good call Clarky. I've not listened to this for ages. Must exhume my copy.
14. Similar but different, a Warwick neck on a J body. http://manchesterbasslounge.com/?p=3132
15. Rats, misread the title. Hoping to find stuff about pixie bassists.
16. I recently acquired some Sadowsky stacked and single knobs and added a few spares just in case there were any BCers who required them. These are at cost inc. the postage from the USA, so not looking to profit. I have three stacked sets for sale at £35 posted. They are brand new & unsued. Pic from the Sadowsky website: When I work out what to use I may have a couple more Sadowsky knobs for sale.
17. Out of interest where does the Thumpinator work best? Just before the amp seems to do it for me but I've not played extensively with this aspect.
18. They have also played for a number of other artists as their backing band.
19. I have to say that whenever I sought assistance from the BC hive it has been supplied in abundance. I do think the gear in members sigs is a useful indication as to that person's background too though. Having said that it is quite amusing when you do a search on a particular topic and come across a bunch of posts about a bass saying 'it's a keeper' etc. how often the bass in question is no longer in the sig
20.
nice i will deffo add a 55-02 to my list to try out and these ACG's people are talking about not heard this name before but been checking them out I'm quite interested, I'm thinking it might be bait harder though to come across one to try out?
Possibly worth asking Alan at ACG if any owners are in your vicinity, most of us are quite affable . Certainly in London there ar some ACGers.
21. Yup, In Rock for me, but only because a lot of the early Led Zep was very blues infused.
22. I never quite got Rainbow. For me it would be Deep Purple In Rock, or possible the first Sabbath album.
23.
Personally I prefer having separate smartphone and mp3 player. My 30 GB mp3 is full now, so I have been looking at the ipod classics. They're really expensive when you compare them to just putting a huge memory card in a phone though :-(
I also have an iPod Nano mk3 for the gym.
