1.
.....and the difference is?????
I thought I detected a smidgen more rythmic talent in the Valley - sorry Vally
2.
It wasn't just me then. I could hardly tell the difference, gender aside.
Yeah you can, Meg couldn't drum to save her life, bless her.
3. I have them on both my fretless basses. I like them for many of the reasons above, the slightly lower tension, the feel under the fingers and most importantly the tone they generate. I think they are particularly good on my 35" scale bass, where although the tension is a little higher they seem to really sing. On my Antoria Jazz bass I have the Fender CL9050 flats that are slightly heavier gauge, but still nice under the digit and do seem to produce a very warm sounding tone.
4.
Deap Vally
Sorry I are an inginere and can't spell.
5. I watch Jools regularly for the variety and bands I've not encountered thus far. I've bought several CDs as a result of the show. Beady Eye - not my cup of tea, but still interestingly different enough from Oasis Miguel - A cross between James Brown & Prince in my eyes but at least he has a personality and sells the music KT Tunstall - Wonderful voice OMD - Lovely slice of 80s electronica, nice to hear it again Deep Valley - I'm going to listen some more as they defiinitely grabbed my attention Poet George - Great, more of this I think would be good Just my thoughts...the OP may be a bit harsh in his opinions, but it's a free world (ish). I have tried to bring my kids up with the general view that there's no 'bad' music, just things you like less than other things and to keep an open mind.
6. In my case the issue was eventually resolved. I raised an issue with Paypal and got my money back. I also got an e-mail from minotaur saying the site had been hacked and this was the cause of the problem. The sent me a 10% discount voucher but I didn't use it as I will not be troubling them again with my business.
7. Fairly sure it was his Jazz bass. No idea about strings though, WOT may well be correct. Oh well looks like I'll be 'forced' to spend several happy hours on LZ I to IV and beyond this weekend.
8. In the back of my mind I think that I recall Coca Cola trying to claim IP on the curvy shape of their bottles. I can't remeber the specific details but I've a feeling they were ultimately unsuccessful. Could be completely wrong. Just for the record, in a former life I invented the ball and all its derivatives so will now start taking aggressive legal action against players so that I can save up to buy loads of Rickenfakers, Rockinbetters et al. World domination surely can't be far away.
9. Do you have to pay royalties for recording covers? I ask as we make a concious decision to only record original material when in the studio. That having been said I probably wouldn't want to record a cover in any case, I don't enjoy playing them at gigs too much either. Sadly they seem to be increasingly necessary in pubs and clubs. Will give the recording a listen at the weekend. The previously advertised PH song was nicely done I thought.
10.
Good evening, Simon... A fake watch purporting to be a real watch is one thing; a similarly-shaped guitar with its own brand, inspired by, but not making out to be, is quite another, imho. Anyone buying a fake of whatever is very unlikely to be a customer for the real thing, I think. No sales loss to the real product. Just my opinion, of course.
Exactly, there is a small but significant difference between a fake (designed to deceive) and a copy (design to flatter for want of a better word). The latter being clearly sold as such; otherwise it would be a fake..
11. I had an RBX270F that I upgraded with SD p/ups (vintage style) - nearly went for the Wizard P/J set, high mass bridge and changed to V / V / T controls (from V / B / T). Great basses for projects imho.
12.
Pedant alert. Fenix were made in Korea. And superb instruments they were/are.
13. Decent Westone 2 IEMs or Audio Technica 'phones with the source through a decent headphone amplifier.
14. I've read through this thread and as a former 4003 owner it saddens me that RIC behave this way. i don't really understand what their motives are in all of this. It is interesting to contrast the behaviours of Fender and RIC; both makers of instruments that (let's be charitable here) rely on a tried and trusted formula and yet with diametriacally opposing positions on their perceived IP. I'm neither a lover or hater of Rics. I saved and saved for ages to be able to buy my dream bass (4003 Jetglo - a real one btw), only to find that it was the most uncomfortable thing to play with a really poor bridge. I sold it after about 12 months and was really saddened that my icon was frankly quite poor imho obviously. Still love the look of them though.
15.
Fixed it for you my dear boy. ...Why not copyright maple wooded basses? That's only ever been used by them....
I think Spector may be in the brown and sticky stuff then.
16. I like the idea in principle of owning and using one bass, however in practice I like the idea of options e.g. active / passive, round / flats, pickup combinations etc. Also musical instruments have their own separate appeal aesthetically. Therefore in some future time I might manage to get down to one fretless and one fretted bass, but there could very easily be one more just in case...
17. Thought I had better contribute. My first Spector was this Legend 4 c.2006 which I sold a year or so back and now looks to be in the hands of Mr Lenny B of this very forum. My current Spector squeeze is this lovely neck through SSD NS-94 from the Stuart Spector Design era MIK mid/late 90s.
18. When the Manc SC outlet folded they had a US Spector going for very reasonable money indeed.
19. As above, EMGs p/ups acquired, perfect transaction, plenty of PMs, very helpful, deal with confidence. Thanks Derek.
20. Good point, well made. I have managed to sneak into the Republic of South Yorkshire a few times without a work permit
21.
cant bloody afford it !!
+1 Saw the S&L tour though. But I think the CA album is phenomenal.
22. Just acquired a Hercules stand from Martyn. As ever simple and completely trustworthy. Good luck with your 10k
23. Indeed very nice looking basses, looking forward to seeing #3 completed, I think the wood combinations will look stunning. I must dig out my permit to travel into Yorkshire (from God's own county of Lancashire).
24. Clearly far too talented, welcome.
