1. Got a few DT CDs so if you want a loan just let me know.
2.
My favourite is Slack Babbath - no points for guessing who they are a tribute to!
Beat me to it. We supported them in Burnley once.
3. You buy one, I'll buy one and swap?
4. When I was a growing lad I played the violin up to a pretty decent standard. This inevitably meant reading music, theory memorising complex pieces etc. Now that I play my bass 95% of the time what I find weird is that whilst I can still read treble clef (G) notation easily, I really struggle with reading notation written in the bass clef (F). I have no idea why this is. Maybe I should have studied the piano instead.
5. I have recently put a set of D'Addario EXL220BTs on a bass (40/55/70/95) to try out some lighter nickel roundwound strings. They cost £16 and in my view are a good compromise between the lower tension and general playablility. I like them.

P or J?
Rick on the neck pickup with tone half-rolled off, flatwounds, mutes under the strings, played between the pickups with a pick through a Vox 710 or 715 head and an open-back 2x10 (or 2x12) cab, distance miked from six feet with an AKG C12 in figure 8 mode and overdubbed in an empty studio onto the track through an EMI Redd 37 or 51 desk with an Altec 436c compressor and a Fairchild 670 compressor. Possibly a smidge of ADT in the background to thicken it up.
Is this any good for metal?
7. Kiogon on this forum made me a twin stack knob arrangement for my Antoria Jazz bass (inc new plate). His work has chocolate block screw-in connectors for the pickup wires. Should be easy enough to add some chocblocs to your exisiting Jazz and then you have the simplest of changeovers imaginable. Please click on the link in my sig for some pics. I think this setup works really well as you have so much more flexibility than the standard V/V/T. My have different cap values for each tone control to give that bit more variety.
8. Excellent news Mr BB. Obviously I'll need to be informed of forthcoming gigs!
9. Me again (sorry), any particular CD you would point me to?
10. I thought you lovely BCers should know that the new CD by this band is really rather good (if you like progy things with a hint of Jazz about them). Our very own shemeckfrac is on low end duites. Check 'em out of Facebook. As you were.
11. Bump
12. Just acquired a Diamond BCP comp from Ryan. Easy deal, well packed, everything as promised. Fine BCer.

No2 body pretty much done, bass in finishing now so hopefully not too much longer to wait...
14. I have heard them mentioned in conversations along with bands like Dream Theatre but I've not heard any of their output. Worth a listen?

Luckily as a teacher Mrs ead eschews all the social media
16. Where we play less than 10% of the venue have a PA so it's pretty much a backline with a small PA for the vocals and acoustic guitars Plus being an old git I'd need somebody to teach me slowly and patiently how this stuff works assuming the band could afford the kit.

Here's the first pic of the body (which obviously is not mine) for the bass I clearly didn't order - just incase Mrs ead has discovered this website
18. Occasionally thought provoking, sometimes controversial, not convinced about the bollocks personally. I don't always agree with you but I do enjoy reading your posts. Don't beat yourself up, others may well be less conscientious.
19. Or this, he said shamelessly plugging his own bass http://basschat.co.uk/topic/211316-fs-antoria-jazz-bass-mid-to-late-70s-vintage-mij-only-l175-ono/page__fromsearch__1
20. For me the Bowie album and Big Big Train. I have also bought and listened to a number of CDs from earlier years that I have just discovered but I suppose they don't count.
21. Kinda depends what you're into since they've gone through a few different transitions. I might venture to suggest Fear of a Blank Planet, In Absentia and (if you like prog) The Sky Moves Sideways or if you don't then check out Stupid Dream or maybe Deadwing - although there is one very proggy song on it. I quite like the live CDs too as they pick some good songs from a number of CDs. Maybe try Atlanta? Hope that helps...probably doesn't though
22. Thanks for the endorsements boys.
23. Not sure if I'm going. I think I need to listen to the album a bit first. Big PT and Marillion fan though...
24. Goodness, must dig out my LPs, not listened to VdGG in ages - good shout by the OP.
