Wow! Sounds great, that. Is the point to augment volume and push away the wood so the frets get looser when cold again? Or am I on a different planet here? b, b
I understand that it's to do with melting the adhesive so the fret wire can be extracted. Never done it myself though as I prefer my fretless basses unlined (so I've got an excuse )

I wouldn't get too hung up on that, my headphones are slightly higher impedance than my in ear things, both work fine in an ipod type device that is more sensitive to the load, so your amp will have no trouble driving most readily available brands. Not a Sennheiser person so can't help you on that score. I believe they are well regarded though.

Cheers boys. I have to say I'm more of a dark cherry kind of guy compared to the the pirate look
Can't believe I've not done this so far... picked the bass up last summer and still get overawed every time I pick it up. It's the easiest to play fretless I've ever owned and the new circuit ensures it's also the most versatile sounding. Alan and I have reasonably similar taste is bass sounds and playability options but here he's read my mind (OK, short read).
It's quite un-nerving that. I feel the same way about my fretless ACG (#120).

I'm looking out for a cheapish P/J bass and saw this on the 'bay. I've tried googling but keep coming up with (what I would consider to be) the 'usual' basses. Can anybody give a steer on this, are they OK or should I avoid at all costs? Cheers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221211571560?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but our drummer has a mini studio and said he would be happy to create some 1 to 2 minute MP3 drum tracks for me to play along to. Sorted, I sure they can be shared here if required.

It may also be worth a call to Chris May, he very much takes the attitude that if it has Overwater on the headstock it's his product whether built in Carlisle or not. I'm fairly sure that another BCer had a similar problem, Chris asked him tot bring the bass in, OW replaced the P/up FOC and give the bass a good set up to boot. He's very happy now, sorry can't remember his BC name but he's popping over for a coffee tonight and a bass related natter so will ask him.

Nice slice of history there Happy Jack.
I like the Wilkinson bridge. It is a direct replacement for the BBOT but has brass saddles and is slightly heavier and looks good. Cheap as well at £12.25. http://www.buy-guita...ss-saddles.html
+1 My Antoria Jazz has one of these replacing the original Fender-a-like BBOT item. As jezzaboy says you retain 90% of the look of the Fender part but with added robustness.

I've had a look at the Electrum & Caustic apps and they all seem a bit complicated for a simple soul like me. Some of the looper apps appear to suffer from latency when looping, so I'm still on the lookout for something that works for me. Any more help / advice please?

Please pardon my ignorance, but what is math rock? Can't speak for the PJ Wizards, but I owned a Jazz with '64s in that were really sweet.

why do so many bass players drive a Ford Focus?
ead replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in General Discussion
I had 2 Ford Focus estates before I took up bass again. So may be the title if this thread should be " Why do so many Ford Focus owners play bass?" Mind you I got my first one because my youngest daughter was still at Uni. I was able to fit her drumkit and all her other crap in it at the end of the year.
Strikes a chord! The lovely Mrs ead has a Focus estate and I have a Mondeo estate - and not forgetting the two kids at different unis, one with a drum kit and a xylophone. -
Thanks for these. My phone is Android based so I think I'll check the app store out in the first instance. Any others I should look at?

Can anybody please point me in the direction of an inexpensive device that will play a few different (pre-programmed) drum patterns to play along to? I don't really want all the effects modelling stuff that comes with Korgs and I already have a Tascam bass trainer but that just does metronome type clicks and accents. Cheers

Yeah, there should be legislation preventing the manufacture of blue basses (imho obviously ).
OMG, what an absolutely disgraceful abomination! TBH, I do only own 4 - 'What's Going On', 'Tapestry' 'Can't Buy A Thrill' and 'C'est Chic'. The rest just is the same old, same old. Almost a list for those who obviously don't like music! I think some stuff makes lists regularly because if people are told that certain records are classics enough times, it become sacrilegious not to fall along with it. It's almost a list compiled of other 'best of's' lists....every artist's 'masterpiece'. Saying that, James Blunt? Whitney? Maroon 5??? Didn't know they'd made a masterpiece! Those of us in covers bands....these voters are your average audience.......
Wow, Mr Angry from Kent; try breathing deeply and counting to 10 ; live and let live I think. Just because an artist not being on your own personal playlist does not instantly make that person or band rubbish. I was 'disappointed' by a lot of the choices but then I didn't vote and so have no right to complain really. I certainly own a few of the selected list but you should also factor in the somewhat narrow criteria for selection and the average R2 listener demographic. It's just a milder form of TV shows like "Britain's Got Issues."

Hi there. Absolutely average at bass playing from Chorley. Happy to meet up for a jam and a natter. Alain
The key is this: "Earlier this year, we asked listeners to pick their favourite from our list ofRadio 2's Top 100 Most Played Albums." With the last bit emphasised. So the vote is made up from the albums Radio 2 plays most. Hence why many peoples faves aren`t on there. It isn`t a "Your fave album of all time" it`s a "Pick your fave from the listed options".
This. Closely followed by 'so what?'

Good work, that's a beauty and needs to be cherished and played.
