  1. Will has sold a few of my basses that were very much not in the 4-figure price bracket (sub £500) so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. They both received exactly the same treatment as the cool expensive stuff, as in excellent service.
  2. I use my preferred D'Addario EXL170BTs (long scale for 34") quite happily on my medium scale (32" ) bass. No issues at all.
  3. Just acquired a bass from Gerry. Top bloke, he took the trouble to drive down to meet up for a handover. Well above and beyond the call of duty. Had a good chat too. One of the best.
  4. Nice. Just out of interest what lead time have you been quoted?
  5. Hi folks Any of you good people able to help in getting a bass from Glasgow down to me (Preston are). More than happy to meet somewhere convenient but haven't got the faith in trains to get up and back from Glasgow atm. The seller is unwilling to ship. Please PM me if you think you could help. Happy to cover some fuel costs etc.
  6. I can second this, Mark at Classic and Cool is excellent to deal with.
  7. Just acquired a nice Glock preamp from Si following an appeal on the Wanted thread. Arrived quickly and beautifully packaged. As always a pleasure to do business with you.
  8. Paul just bought some strings from. The usual immaculate transaction. Many thanks Paul.
  9. The Cort Artisan A5 Plus FMMH series are 19mm at the bridge and very good value second hand too. Here's one but seems a tad expensive for a pre-loved Cort. I bought mine for less than this. https://www.fairdealmusic.co.uk/products/cort-a5-plus-fmmh-5-string-open-pore-black-cherry-used?variant=42618396344545&currency=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-simnoeh_AIVz9DtCh3CkwwZEAQYBCABEgIjkfD_BwE
  10. Squier Silver Series basses have a 40mm nut. Js and Ps share the same neck so either flavour is catered for.
  11. Lovely basses, I had one as my first proper fretless bass a while back. GLWTS.
  12. Great story. Just done the same thing myself with a s/s bass I used to own and foolishly sold.
  13. Total for 2022 = minus 5 I throw myself at the mercy of the BC community.
  14. I'm not aware of having tried ground wound strings but have tried pressure wound. They were not for me so went back to my fav TI flats.
  15. The 'back-up' pickup would deffo be a benefit. I have decided to leave mine as is in the end. I've had a lot of comments at gigs not only about the aesthetics and 'back story' of the bass, but more importantly about how it sounds which is a good thing
  16. The most expensive new bass I've bought was a custom ACG at a bit over £2.5k, amazing bass and I will confess to being a serial ACG user. As a counter balance I really enjoy the sub £500 pre-loved bracket and I currently have a couple of instruments in that price bracket that are both excellent.
  17. Does this mean I've now got to add an extra battery and mess with my lovely wiring? I think I probably already know the answer. Although I think Mr Sklar was running them with a 9V for each p/up so technically 9V in parallel and therefore not an 18V circuit.
  18. Long scale indeed. They came from a Fender 50's P bass, so 34" scale 4 in-line headstock.
  19. Just acquired some pickups from Dave, a really straightforward transaction. Great comms with some helpful info. Deal in confidence people of BC world.
  20. Bass looks great BTW, congratulations. Are you liking the results?
  21. My bass runs at 9V and sounds just dandy (to my cloth ears at any rate).
  22. Just reacquired my old ACG previously in the caring hands of @Gardenerben from Bill. What a gent and a real pleasure to meet and deal with. Bill was extremely helpful in terms of meeting up (still a long drive for him) and also for being kind enough to sell me my old bass back. Deal with confidence folks 👍
