1. I've got a Microthumpinator, Pitch Black tuner, Pearl Octaver, EBS distortion, EBS unichorus and an Aguilar compressor. Can't remember if that's the order exactly though.
2. +1 on the TI flats: 43/56/70/100. I'm also trying a set of Fender CL9050 flats 45/60/80/105 on my Jazz. The other bass has Nickel Slinky's 40 55 75 100, not hyper light but lighter.
3. Great band that I suspect influenced a great many acts that followed without necessarily getting the credit they deserved.
4. Well it's been to have the black refinish removed and underneath we found this after removing a bit of ply top and bottom. Not solid, but not unattractive either and still sounds fantastic! Plus Kiogon made me a rather splendid stacked knob jazz setup.
5. John made me a vintage style twin stacked knob jazz plate. Awesome (much overused, but justified here) piece of kit. Top quality, brilliant service and endless patience answering my questions. Truly a top banana of the BC world.
6. My personal preference would be midnight wine with parchment p/g. It's far and away my favourite Fender scheme. Leaving now...
7. Thanks mart, good info and thanks for taking the time to explain.
8. I saw this on 'the bay' and wondered if anybody could give me any more info about it please. Also how does it compare to the Spector NS2000B f/s on this very forum? 10. Ben has just acquired my Yamaha BBN5 bass. Great to deal with, plenty of PMs and prompt payment. I highly recommend him to all in the BC community.
11. Thanks for that, good knowledge.
12. Can I have a bit of advice on this bass please as it's something I'd be interested in? 13. Sold pending, thanks very much.
14. I've used both for work on basses. Phil excellent but pricier. Jack also excellent and about 20% or so cheaper imho.
15. What about this as an alternative? http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/super-55-split-coils-jazz-bass-pickups/ Or this http://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/bass/standard-bass/ultra-jazz-bridge
16. Responded. Still available.
17. Purveyor of quality pre loved scratch plates for Jazz basses in black. Thanks very much Gareth, appreciate your excellent service.
18. For sale is my 1996 Yamaha BBN5 in natural finish (acquired from a BCer). I have decided that after 2 separate attempts I am happiest on a 4-string bass, hence the sale. The body has a few minor dings and some wear just above the bridge pickup presumably caused by a previous owners thumb nail. Overall the body is in pretty good condition for its age. I'd give it 6.5 to 7.0 out of 10. The neck and fretboard are in excellent shape and nice and straight. The bass had EMG active pickups installed when I acquired it and has been lightly modded by the addition of an EMG BTC system 2-band EQ and a professionally installed 9v battery compartment. I have also added some black aluminium control knobs as the EMG supplied knobs were pants. I will include the three 25k pots (active pickups don't forget) and speed dial knobs for those wanting to go back to the traditional jazz bass style V / V / T controls. Also included is a padded gig bag. Price wise, £150 or sensible offers please. Thanks for looking. I would also consider trades for a fretless or an interesting 4-string fretted bass with cash either way.
