1.
Thanks for all your replys.. I have made an appointment with Drew for Friday. In the meantime i will check out dawsons and pmt. Best regards, mark
....and....what happened next, I think we should be told.
2. Great shout, thanks for the heads-up for this.

Letts porn

Hopefully this will work...Here's my recent acquisition...
4. Don't forget inflation when considering investments either. £100 in 1970 is equivalent to around £1,300 today.
5.
I will go with another manufacturer, but after a look at Amazon reviews of all sorts, I am completely lost iGrado looked good but they apparently leak noise and I hate people with leaky headphones. Cheers.
iGrado are excellent, as are most Grado products, but as you say they are leaky. My pair are around 4 years old now, but I do think the cable is too fine for harder use. If you can stretch to some SR80s or SR60s you won't be disappointed.
6. At the risk of being burned as a witch (again ) for heresy, you could get a very lovely hand-crafted ACG Graft J type bass for about 1/2 the price of an MIA Fender. Or go the whole hog for about the same money. http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Available/37/
7. Could I recommend Westones. They have heavier duty twisted cable and seem more rugged than most, plus they provide great quality audio. Not the cheapest sadly.
8. Struggling to upload pics again. If you'd like to see the beasties please PM me with an e-mail address.
9. I have the original set p/ups from my Antoria jazz bass that came with the instrument when I bought it; the owner having swapped them out for some Fender Japan items. I like the bass as it is so would like to move the original set on. They both measure a bit north of 7k ohms according to my multimeter on the static resistance test. I'll put some pics up later on. Thanks for looking.
10. I like Alan's basses at ACG as well as Jon Letts work. Both beautifully crafted rather than manufactured and cheaper than most of the MIA bulk output.
11. PMT has a reasonable amount of stuff in it. There's alao Jonny Roadhouse but I've never been there. For basses the Manchester Bass Longe is interesting (pre-owned stuff). Give Drew a ring and arrange a visit but I'd leave your wallet in the car!
12. Fender 9050CLs are good too (imho obviously) and around £20.
13. As the question is 'regularly use...' I voted NO as I used very occasional distortion and even less occasional chorus.

My First ACG

I'm sure you will love it. The wait between knowing it's ready and getting the bass is torture.
15.
You mean some basses have frets? Like a guitar? Interesting concept....
It will never catch on.
16. Nice surprise to hear the new single on the radio this morning, plus forthcoming album. Definitely excited.

ACG build

Cheers boys, lovely to play too.
18. Mondeo estate ticks all the boxes for me.
19. My new ACG is a quantum leap better than anything I have played to date. I am recalibrating my expectations for all future basses.

CURVED AIR
Thank you. You can tell Sonja that she made me most happy as a teenager. I'm 58 now I have and love 'Air Cut' and I'll check out your gigs. Peter
.....sigh.... I remember going to see Curved Air in mid 70s (Tonbridge Wells possibly). I recall being a little distracted at times...
21. Just signed up, and in a moment of Malt fueled overconfidence have signed up to play with the band too.

Here she is, absolutely gorgeous and a very happy bunny here.
24. When the sainted Mrs ead eventually finds it I shall use that in my defence
25.
I know a lot of rudimentary bassists and guitarists who spend stupid money on boutique instruments and amps (in the hope that spending money will make them sound better), when they'd be better off spending the money on a few lessons.
Partly guilty although my made for me bass will cost less than the US made Fenders, and I am having lessons...
