1. Last chance to acquire this stunning vintage pedal.
2. Radio Gaga. Sorry if it's been mentioned but the links above are all blocked at work.
3. theotherphiljones, he knows you know.
4. On the basis that the factual answer is shed loads; were the OP's question slightly more focussed I think if I were to pick three the list would be along the lines of: A bass made in the year of my birth (1960) Something with fanned frets An upright electric bass Not very exciting, but there you go.
5. Tried evilbay but not sure if I'm using the correct keyword, although I've tried quite a few variations.
6. I'd like to try an upright double bass like what they have in orchestras
7. Can anyone point me in the direction of some replacement foam inserts for my BCB-60 pedal case please as I've hacked my way through the couple of spares I had. I've tried the bay and google but maybe I'm just not using the right search terms. Thanks in advance
8. This pedal is in unbelievable condition for its age. The box too and instruction leaflet are in great nick. If you like more pics I'd be happy to oblige. It's for sale as I don't use it and I'm raising money for my new bass. The pedal has the usual octave down and two octaves down, plus the less frequently seen octave up. Very versatile and in full working order. £95 ovno posted Special Delivery UK mainland.
9.
ACG all the way mate, go with your gut! I've got 2 ACGs (so far) and they are the best basses I've ever owned, amoung the finest I've ever played in every respect and represent amazing value for money. I've had a few custom basses built now and ACG win hands down for all your key things listed above, and one thing they do better than anyone else by far is communication, knowing that your phone call, text or email will actually be read and that you will get a reply within a reasonable time frame if not immediately is key when you're spending "custom bass amounts of money", you'll know what's going on all along the way and get pics proving that something's actually happening I've said this many times now, I seriously can't imagine owning a bass from another builder now. If you've got any questions feel free to shoot me a PM, and if you're ever in the London area, you're welcome to come try mine out. Order with confidence Eude
+1 to all of that. I'm a very average player, very fortunate to be able to afford a custom build after saving up etc for a couple of years so the working relationship thing was very important to me. I went up to Moffat where after I'd sampled a number of his basses Alan spent a good deal of time with me providing his expert guidance on wood choices, EQ etc. Plenty of e-mails on progress and e-mails answered right away. Very happy camper here.
10. You missed me off the list
11. Bought a Source Audio bass distortion pedal from Jose. He went out of his way to write me a comprehensive review of the beast, posted it quickly and was an all round excellent seller. I recommend him to all BCers, great guy to deal with.
12. I like blue cables, I have 3 now For info there's a Hartke Bass Attack on here for £43 - not mine I hasten to add!
13. Man they are a great looking aglomeration of basses (what is the correct collective noun for more than 1 bass?). I'm waiting for my first ACG, currently in build, so am hyper envious. Mrs ead has also issued pretty dire threats about a second in the future so I'm not sure if it would be good for my health to casually leave your pics lying around.
14. How would you define a Hot Deal? Is it more than a certain percentage below retail or are there other criteria? I'm personally not convinced yet.
15. Thanks for these, I found the UG tab but I'm going through a must-teach-myself-to-learn-notation-for-bass period. The weird thing is that as I was a handy violin player in my youth I can read the G clef music fine but my older and less flexible brain is struggling with F clef music. Does anybody have any handy tips to assist me!
16. All the above three are lovely looking basses. I love the unusual shape; the fretless one on the bay would do me nicely though. Sad to report that completely failed to win the Euromillions lottery. Roll on Tuesday!
17. Could anybody point me towards the notation for Starship Trooper please as I'm struggling to find it on the interweb? Thanks in advance.
18. I wish I had spare cash for this baby - must check lottery ticket! samuel

I'm afraid I had a much less positive experience with samuel over the purchase of a Linden EQ pedal. Similar to Beer of the Bass and paulbkeeves I regret to say. Delays, lack of communications, promised posting dates missed. The timeline as follows: 21 May - Enquiry 22 May - Sorting out details and price etc 23 May - Payment made - to this point good 2-way PMs 25 May - PMed to check that payment had been received 26 May - Confirmed receipt of payment, promised that the item would go in the post on Monday 28 May 31 May - Nothing received. PMed for an update/info on the posting 03 June - No response (although samuel had been on the site inbetween times). Sent further PM. Alerted Mods. as concerned about previous 'form' 08 June - Still nothing (samuel had been on the site at least twice inbetween). When I logged on I noticed he was online so sent a PM asking why I had had no responses and for an update. He responded back to say it had been posted. I asked for details e.g. tracking number. He said he would send it to me when he got home. Got home tonight to find it on the mat, posted 06 June. I don't actually mind if stuff doesn't happen instantly but I like to be informed that there is a delay and when I can reasonably expect to receive the goods. It takes 10 seconds for a quick PM. Overall I'd say 5/10 Good points: Pedal as described, decent price. Bad points: Once cash paid comms dried up. Not posted until 10 days after it was promised. Ultimately it's up to you, fellow BCers, to decide whether to deal with samuel. From my point of view if he has a 1960 stack knobbed Jazz bass in mint condition with sales receipt for sale at £10 I will pass - Actually I probably wouldn't. But I probably will for other pedals and the like. There is no point in a feedback thread if it only lists glowing reports and I've tried to be objective here. I'll keep the PM trail for future reference.

ACG build

It's definitely beginning to take a very bass-like shape now.
21. Have you had a look on the Warwick forum? You may find somebody here that could help. http://forum.warwick.de/forum.php In fact now that I think about it I'm sure that I saw Warwick represented on here as a manufacturer; maybe worth a PM?
22.
Interesting, I've got the same bass as you and I tend to favour the treble being boosted to help cut through and get a bit of string noise in there. The 5khz boost also helps with that a lot. Mind you, it could be down to the amp as to how much you need to boost what on the bass. I played through a 1987 Laney Linebacker and I didn't need as much high end boost as I do with my Ashdown 220 Touring.
Each to his/her own I suppose maybe it's also to do with the style of music in the band I play with, just needs a little bit more bottom end I feel. Fretless sale just fell through too (not a person from on here I don't think), so marginally hacked off as I had just sold the Audere pre I was using which was rather groovy. On the up side I've acquired an ACG EQ02 on a Jazz plate to slot in to get used to whilst waiting for my ACG bass to be built.
23. +1 to the above. I am enjoying the lighter gauge strings on my fretless. They're TI JF344s iirc.
24. I generally run my amp EQ pretty flat and then for the Overwater I use a little bit of bass boost with the p/up sweep biassed towards the neck p/up. My new ACG will have the ACG EQ03 5K system which I'm really looking forward to playing with.

New Rush CD
Another Classic Rock victim here. Waiting is the hardest part.
+1 Does it look like the Rickenbacker is making a comeback or is that just for the vid I wonder?
