The top banana that is Gary (a credit to his family, the wider community and indeed the UK as a whole) splashed out a considerable some of his hard-earned on some Schaller strap lock items. I am relieved to say that he found them to be of merchantable quality and was patient with me during the whole postal strike debacle causing the delivery time from me posting them to the envelope landing on his mat to be in excess of a typical Covid isolation period. The man is a saint (even though he won't give me one of his Spectors of which he has far too many for one peep).

Nice. I think the plate was an old Stingray item but not 100% on that tbh. Certainly has the look of one. Pickup-wise my neck one is a good couple of mm lower than the bridge item and that does balance out the sound nicely.
-
I'm sure there's a picture of this somewhere. Wouldn't you want the pickup under the part of the string that has the most lateral movement to get the best output? To take an extreme example, if the p/up was under the 12th fret and you played a harmonic note over that 12th fret then the string at that point would be all but stationary and the pickup wouldn't hear much of it at all.
-
Here you go, and using the Mk1 eyeball technique so may be a mm or two out: 12th fret to the centre of the EA part of the pick up - neck - 247mm 12th fret to the centre of the EA part of the pick up - bridge - 373mm

No probs, will get back to you later today on this.

Do you want me to check the measurements btw?

The neck pickup soloed is definitely richer in tone than a normal P bass so your analysis looks spot on to me. Nice to see it represented graphically too. I might well 'steal' that pic

Just PMed you.

That looks like my old one. I traded for a Sandberg TT4 TSBS as I like the battered look. It has the Black Label p/ups that are rather nice too.

This. I have the slightly earlier bass version and a (GB-10 as a spare). Really easy and you can do cool stuff like slow playback down without affecting pitch. They don't come up that often preloved which probably tells you what you need to know. If you're anywhere near Preston happy to lend you the spare one to try out.

Hi folks For sale are these Ernie Ball strings that arrived on a bass I purchased very recently and had been fitted new by the seller. I prefer heavier strings so they came straight off and are available to you good people at a decent saving on the new price (£27 + P&P) Looking for £17.50 inc. P&P to UK mainland This is the spec: https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/strings-c1/string-sets-c865/bass-guitar-c34/ernie-ball-extra-slinky-nickel-wound-40-95-bass-guitar-strings-p954 Here's a hi res pic of the beasties so you can see their condition.

Yes I remember them well. I was volunteering for the charity at the time and saw a few fly through the shops. Foolishly, I never bought one.

This may be my favourite one yet from you know who

Apologies if so. I looked at quite a few topics but didn't see it. -

Following this with interest.

This was from the Facebook public group. He was known as Scoop on here: Today is a sad day. I've kept this mostly to myself and haven't advertised the fact but in June I suffered a significant stroke which affected the left side of my body. I've not recovered as well or as quickly as I'd like and I'm not really able to play at a satisfactory level. In addition, last Friday I accepted a severance package from my employers, a charity. As a charity they weren't able to offer an enhanced deal so the financial package isn't significant. I need money. All bar a very few basses from my collection of 25+, including over 10 ACGs, will be delivered to Bass Direct for commission sale later today. It's heartbreaking but needs must.

The ACG version is different to the J East original in that the push/pull on the vol/tone stack is treble boost; the push/pull on the mids stack is bass boost (I think configurable, but not 100% on that bit). One switch is active/passive and the other coil switching for the split coil pick up. So unusual for BD to get the specs wrong

Since found out that these belong to a long-standing BCer who has had a serious medical situation. Very sad
